I got up to NYC yesterday pretty easily. I am always happy about stress-free travel! Got to love that! I was so happy to see kate monster (name changed for privacy purposes, if you have seen Avenue Q you get the reference!) It has been FOREVER since we have seen each other. Ok, last time we saw each other was my birthday weekend, but it was FOREVER before that too. When I arrived at her new apartment, she had some fabulous sunflowers waiting for me.
Kate Monster and I chit-chatted for a little bit and watched some Oprah (ps, did anyone see Oprah yesterday? It was a GOOD one! All about how men and women are attracted to each other and how we pick our mates. Fascinating!) Anywho, I made myself a little grilled cheese with avocado because KM had plans for us to do a little running action.
She lives right next to Central Park, and for 6 or 7 miles of the race tomorrow, we are actually running around Central Park. KM wanted to show me some of the hills we would be doing so I would be prepared. I tested out my new Nathan Quickdraw water bottle during the run (review to come!), but I love the pocket on the side!
KM has a Road ID too! Yay for spreading the safety while running love! I love the purple color. So snazzy!
Here we are post run enjoying a leisurely stroll around the reservoir
You got to love the great views!
This is where Charlotte goes running in Sex and the City! I had to do a test run pretending to be her! Here is a little bit of Leslie trivia – Charlotte is my favorite SATC character, who is yours??
Ok, in this picture, I am just being silly – but look at that fabulous form! Hahaha!
The whole point of our little 3 mile run yesterday, other than for me to meet some of the hills for the race on Sunday, was to pick up our NYC Half Marathon race packet! I love picking up race packets! Is it bad that part of me loves going to the running expo’s (and getting medals) more than the actual race part sometimes?? 🙂
Here is our loot. I was pretty disappointed with the bag. This whole Half Marathon was sponsored by Nike last year, and was supposed to be sponsored by Nike this year too. But Nike backed out last minute. There was supposed to be a huge expo and all this other fun stuff going on, but not anymore. There was no expo, we just picked up our bag and left. I am upset because this is the NYC Half Marathon baby! It’s supposed to be a festive event, right?
Supposed Supposed Supposed! Ok, enough whining, in our packet, we got our racing bib and chip (GO #6532!!!!) some Newman’s Own popcorn, chap stick, an Energy Kitchen coupon, and some pretzels that all went in the blue bag.
I do like the shirt. It’s one of those really lightweight racing material shirts. Short sleeved but I enjoy the grey color. It’s pretty cute.
And here are the back of the shirts. Standard.
Tear I wish Nike was still sponsoring. <Sniff Sniff>
