Early morning wake up call today for my Main Line 5K race. I hate waking up early for work and school, but it doesn’t bother me so much when I am waking up for running fun!
Last night I enjoyed some POM Wonderful while boyf and I relaxed and watched Mad Men. I wish I got to bed a little earlier than I did, but Mad Men is so addicting! The POM was nutritious and delicious – full of healthiness!
This morning I woke up and toasted 2 pieces of bread but I only ended up eating one. I knew I was hungry and needed the fuel, but sometimes its so hard to get myself to eat a good pre-race meal so early in the morning! I ate the one with PB and bananas.
I also made myself a mini green monster. I cut my ingredient portions in half because I knew I wouldn’t be able to drink a whole green monster, but I wanted the vitamins and minerals! Jackson was checking me out with a watchful eye wondering why I was up so early on a weekend!
For my fuel I brought with me some ZYM which I received in the mail a few days ago and I put my Clif shot blocks in my Nathan hydration pack, just in case I wanted one.
Here I am, all ready to hit the road.I wore my skirt goddess running skirt, my Gracie’s gear sports bra, my Road ID, my Zensah running sleeves and my Garmin. I went by myself today, which was fine. The race was going to be short and quick anyways and boyf wanted to sleep in, which I totally understand.
I added my ZYM tablet to my water and was ready to hit the road. It’s an electrolyte fuel and the berry flavor was quite tasty!
It’s so crazy going from a 15,000+ (NYC Half) and a 26,000+(Broad Street Run) person race to a 600+ person race. I liked it a lot. It had a way more intimate feel. I didn’t have to wait for 30 minutes to go to the bathroom, I wasn’t being trampled over while running, it was spacious and nice. I liked it.
The race was really quick. The race went down Lancaster Ave (Rt 30) and down through some residential areas through to the Valley Forge Military Academy and back. There were two fairly massive hills, which I did not enjoy, but I did it.
I did very well – A new PR! Here are my stats:
Mile 1 – 7:08 Mile 2: 8:14 Mile 3: 7:53 Mile .10: 0.43
23.58! Woohoo! I came home and Jackson and boyf were still in bed. I woke both of them up, took them outside and took some victory pictures!
After the run I grabbed some amazing bread from Great Harvest Bread Co. that had a little booth at the post race party.
After the race I got one of the best race packets ever! Check out all the swag I got. I love the race shirts. Its a Brooks performance shirt. I also got 2 pocket sized Advil, 2 Chapsticks, some food, Great Harvet Bread Co. coupons, water bottle, reusable shopping bag, gloves ( the second pair is for boyf!) and some other good stuff.
I also picked Jackson up a little football. He has been playing with it all morning since I gave it to him! I got to bring presents back for my New Jersey boys! (boyf and Jackson are both from Jersey!)
Here is the back of the shirt and my race bib again. There were so many great sponsors! I had a great time at the race and look forward to my next 5K in a few weeks!
Good luck to all the other runners who are racing today!

Congrats on the race!! That pic of you & Jackson is just way too cute. 🙂
Great time! I am so impressed that you ran so fast in the first mile and was still able to maintain such great speeds for the rest. I hope I am at your level one day!
awesome pics girl – how do you manage to look so damn fly even after running a race?!
Great job on the 5k, I'm shooting for under 24 next weekend!! 🙂
