I love every other Friday! Every other Friday I have off from work and I have the whole day to myself. It’s amazing to sleep in without an alarm and wake up slow, make a nice breakfast and then take on my ever growing to-do list!
This morning I brought back an old favorite – stovetop oats! My mornings have been so crazy lately I haven’t had time to oat-it-up! My oats this morning included bananas, strawberries, coconut and peanut butter. Yum, yum, yum!
After breakfast I did a little apartment cleaning (and Gossip Girl watching!) and then Jackson and I headed out for a little workout sesh. I wanted to get in a nice little run to get my legs working in preparation for the Half this weekend, and I also wanted to take Jackson for a walk. Mid walk we took off on a nice little jog.
Jackson has always been the kind of pup that on walks he stops every five seconds to sniff something, or pee on something, or pretend to pee on something. I have taken him out for jogging attempts before, but it has never gone very very well because he stops every five seconds.
Today we took off on a jog and Jackson ran 3 miles with me, pretty much non-stop. It was awesome. I got my legs going and he got a nice little workout in too! Everyone won! That was the longest he has ever run with me and he did it pretty quickly. We did about 3 miles in under 30 minutes. Jackson is a speedy little devil!
Jackson is currently passed out on the floor. 3 miles is a long way for a little 12 pound puppy! In other news I made some additions to my race board. Notice anything new?
I ordered an official photo from the NYC Half Marathon I ran in August!
This picture was taken right in the middle of Times Square and I was totally trying to get the camera dude’s attention! I wanted a good picture and I love the one they got of me!
Hopefully I will get another good race shot this weekend! Now I am off to conquer the rest of my to-do list! I have to run some errands, clean up the apartment, attempt to do some school work and then hit up the Health and Fitness Expo to pick up my bib.
I have 2 friends coming up to stay with me this weekend, and my parents are coming up tomorrow morning! It’s going to be a jam-packed weekend!
Random Question – Does anyone have any good running music suggestions? I want to download some new tunes for the race and am looking for some good ideas! What music do you run too?

Showing my age here.. but I like to listen to 70s music when I run. Sister Sledge, Gloria Gaynor. Also, some early 80s stuff by Gap Band, Stevie Wonder and others.
Great picture!
I like to run to fun & silly stuff that I can sing along to or that remind me of a particular movie or moment with a friend.
Basically I listen to a TON of 80s pop. However, I have a few songs that get me really pumped like: "Breathe" – Prodigy, "Maniac" – Michael Sambello (yes, the song from Flashdance…) and "Holding Out for Hero" – Bonnie Tyler (because its that tractor scene from Footloose! How can that not make you want to run harder?)
good luck this weekend!!!
1. bleed it out by linkin' park
2. remember the name by fort minor
3. ring the alarm by beyonce
4. sexy bitch by akon and david guetta
5. girl talk feed the animals album
🙂
Oh my gosh, I have every other Friday off too! But the opposite one as you.
Happy Long Weekend!!!

Good luck on Sunday!! It would be great to run into you. I'm having Hubs bring the camera. So many potential blogger meet ups!
GREAT photo! You look awesome!
Your breakfast looks so appealing to the eye (and tummy, I'm sure!).
Jackson is SOOOO cute! 😀
Since you're askin'… check out Hella Sound Running Music. It's high-intensity, 30-minute songs that are produced specifically for running. You can also see what runners have said about us on Facebook. Enjoy!
Murphy does the pretend pee thing all the time. I'm always like, "there is no way you have any pee left in you!!"
Some running favorites:
Sometime Around Midnight – The Airborne Toxic Avenegers
RIght Round – Flo Rida
Creator – Santogold
Intervetion – The Arcade Fire
I have really random taste in music.
What an amazing photo!! I can't wait to read you race recap from this weekend 🙂
