Remember the last time I made whole wheat and honey pizza from scratch? Well, my friends, it has been SERIOUSLY too long since I made that meal! I need to make homemade and healthy pizza a regular part of my weekly eats! Its so yummy and SO EASY!
Tonight I even got to use my new rolling pin for the first time! It was so exciting! I’m so domestic sometimes it hurts!
Fiancé was nice enough to take some action shots of the making of the meal. I think he is a budding photographer. Check out his skills! He caught me mid-dough rolling.
And then I pretended the rolling pin was a baseball bat. Anyone else ever do that?
I was the Babe Ruth of dough rolling!
And then I measured Jackson. He is just about as long as a rolling pin. That would be your Jackson trivia quota for the night!
Enough playing with my utensils! It’s time to cook! I used some Dei Fratelli pizza sauce that was sent to me to try.
On the whole wheat and honey pizza dough, fiancé and I decided on onions, peppers and pepperoni as toppings.
And a nice healthy handful (or two) of cheese.
Check out our before:
And after 350* in the oven for 5-10 minutes.
Cheesy and delicious
2 perfect slices of pizza heaven.
If that doesn’t make you hungry, I don’t know what will! Jackson was jealous he didn’t get a slice!
What’s your favorite pizza topping?
How to make the pizza dough:
INGREDIENTS
- 1 (.25 ounce) package active dry yeast
- 1 cup warm water
- 2 cups whole wheat flour
- 1/4 cup wheat germ
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon honey
DIRECTIONS
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees
- In a small bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water. Let stand until creamy, about 8-10 minutes.
- In a large bowl combine flour, wheat germ and salt. Make a well in the middle – add honey and yeast mixture. Stir well to combine. Cover and set in a warm place to rise for a few minutes.
- Roll dough on a floured pizza pan and poke a few holes in it with a fork.
- Add sauce and desired toppings – add cheese last
- Bake in preheated oven for 5 to 10 minutes, or until desired crispiness is achieved.
