Wedding Registry and Pinky Rings

Today was a glorious day! Fiancé and I did our first wedding gift registry! We narrowed down where we want to register to a few places and Crate and Barrel has always been on my list! I was told a few weeks ago by a friend about events that C&B were holding at various stores called The Wedding Parties. This event has been going on every Sunday this month and we went this morning!

The event is in the morning before the store actually opens to the public. It was for engaged couples to come and do their gift registry without the store being filled with customers, and the store associates were able to help us along the way. There was lots of food and drinks beautifully displayed all over the store. I had a mimosa to toast the start of the registry process!

But let me tell you right now – Registering for a wedding is HARD! We had no idea what we were doing or where to start. Our apartment now is small and we have no place to put anything, but you are supposed to register for the future and things you will need down the road. It was hard to decide how many place settings we should get and what kind of everyday dinnerware to decide on. Picking out various entertaining pieces and color schemes and patterns was a lot to decide on! It was very overwhelming.

After we got into the flow of things we eventually had some fun with the scanner and picked out some nice things. Here is fiancé and I being silly in the napkin aisle.

Fiancé caught me in scanning action!

It’s hard to pick out table settings when you haven’t finalized the dinnerware yet, but I am hoping we find something neutral that can go with everything (especially pretty table linens!)

I felt so powerful with my scanner gun! The whole store was at my fingertips! Haha. Not really, but it was exciting to pick out fun things we need! The most exciting scan of the day was a KitchenAid Stand Mixer! Fingers crossed that I get it! 🙂

I really had a hard time deciding on everything today. I couldn’t make up my mind! How do I know that this flatware will be the fork and knife I want to eat with for the  next 30 years? How do I know that I will like this dinnerware pattern next month?? I change my mind a lot so this kind of stuff freaks me out!

The best part about the registry process is that we can go home later and review everything and add or remove things from our registry online. So it wasn’t a TOTAL commitment of everything!

We had a good time together today. It will be exciting when we start getting our plates and bowls! Obviously, being a food blogger, that stuff is SUPER EXCITING TO ME!

What was your wedding registry experience like?

Today was also a fun day because my mom came up from Virginia to visit. She actually came up to visit a friend of hers that lives in the area, and I got to see her for a few hours while she was here!

In true fabulous mom fashion, she brought me a little present today.

Check it out:

This is my mom’s original wedding band that she has had for 30+ years. Before Christmas, her band broke. The jeweler said they couldn’t fix it back to it’s original shape so she got herself a new band, and had her old one made into 2 pinky rings.

One for her and one for me! 🙂

I love the fact that my mom and I have matching rings. It’s so special to me that I get to wear part of her wedding band.

I love it! I am wearing it on my right hand and I think its so cute! It’s dainty and classy.

Thanks so much mom!

Do you have any special piece of jewelery that you wear all the time?

Obviously I never take off my engagement ring and now this pinky ring is my new obsession!

I cannot wait for the day I get to register. My number one is going to be the Cuisinart Food Processor. I am so excited for that day!
In fact, the BF keeps saying, "You don't have to be engaged to get a food processor," and then I say, "Yes you do!" So now every time he says HE wants a kitchen item, I say, "I know how you can get one!!!"

    I love registering! 🙂

Love the pinky ring idea! How precious is that!!!

Honestly, since getting married, I only wear my wedding ring on one hand and a pearl ring on the other.

I've gotten more simple over time i guess.

We had some much fun doing our wedding registry. One thing we learned was that at Bed, Bath, and Beyond, you can return things on your registry for CASH. This came in handy when we got our gifts and realized that 10 cutting boards was a little too much!

Those pinky rings are adorable! Such a cute idea!! I had way too hard of a time registering in the stores since so many things depend on what you choose for other things (like you were saying about the napkins coordinating with your plates). We ended up doing it all online using so that we could not only go at our own pace and coordinate more easily, but also pick things from any store we wanted since it all went on one registry. If you wanted to do this, I know they let you import crate & barrel registries so all of your hard work wouldn't go to waste!
