Tonight I wanted to serve an Irish meal. When I was at Whole Foods this weekend, there were lots of different samplings of various Irish inspired food they were featuring for the holiday. After a few different taste tests, I knew exactly what my St. Patrick’s Eve meal would consist of!
I tried Lancaster Brewing Company’s Milk Stout at a tasting a little while ago and it rocked my world. To make this brew they use barley and caramel chocolate malts. Pretty much anything with chocolate in it is for me, and this beer was definitely for me!
I didn’t think I would like a Milk Stout because the name freaked me out a bit, but I loved it! It was so good! I am becoming more and more fond of darker beers.
Do you like your beers dark or light?
Back to the food! While I didn’t actually make the main course of this meal, I did go to the store, buy it, heat it up, prepare a side dish and make it pretty on the plate.
That counts right?
I didn’t have to do much for this meal because I purchased the Caraway Fritters and Irish Bangers pre-made at Whole Foods. It was awesome walking out of the store with my Irish dinner pretty much ready to go!
I sautéed some asparagus, green peppers, peas and onions and made a side of mashed potatoes to go along with the fritter and bangers.
I topped with caraway fritter with some lemon juice. It was very yummy!
I topped my bangers with some Saucy Mama backyard brat mustard. It was seedy, spicy and delicious!
The mustard gave the bangers a lovely kick!
Fiancé enjoyed his meal fit for an Irish King!
What’s your favorite Irish food or drink?
I announced the winner of the EasyLunchBoxes.com Giveaway winner here, but I haven’t heard from her yet. If I don’t hear from the winner by Friday, I will pick a new one!

Your dinner looks great. I missed our Whole Foods this weekends sampling. I probably would have bought way more than I needed too.
That is some super dark beer. I don't think I've ever had one that dark.
Mmmm. Yummy dinner.
PS I'm Irish too. And Scottish. Kelly Carroll. 🙂
If you're into trying Pa. beers, I'd try Mad Elf. It comes out at Christmastime … it is from a Harrisburg brewery and it is DELICIOUS! (And super potent … be warned.)
I am not a big beer drinker but LOVE dark beers too. Especially ones with chocolate or coffee in them! Also love Whole Foods Irish Bangers, Hubby is British so we get those a lot since they remind him of home!
Your dinner looked fabulous! I'm sure fiance loved it as well Don't like beer at all – I'm a Martini Gal!
