Two Mondays ago I got to attend an awesome media event at Cafe Spice in Old City Philadelphia on behalf of my awesome Uwishunu gig. Who wouldn’t jump at the chance to check out a new restaurant, eat some awesome food and hang out with some of Philly’s finest media peeps. I was all over that.
The event was all about promoting some of Cafe Spice’s new menu options. The owner of the restaurant greeted everyone and ever explained a little bit about what we were eating. I am a big Thai food fan, but I have never eaten much Indian food. I was excited to try some new things and learn a little about the food at the same time.
I tried a little bit of everything and oh my goodness was it ever delish! Everything smelled so amazing and tasted even better. There were 3 different types of sauce options and I loved them all. My plate doesn’t look so pretty, but the food rocked my socks off!
Did I mention this place is just gorgeous inside? I love the bar and then orange and yellow lighting. It’s so warm and inviting.
Another part of the event was a open bar (woohoo!) I had never really sampled any Indian wine before, but it was all very yummy. I enjoyed a small glass with dinner.
Have you ever had Indian wine before? I really liked it and would enjoy any additional recommendations!
On to dessert! For this we enjoyed traditional Indian Gulab Jamun. I have no idea how to pronounce that, but it was a dough consisting mainly of milk solids in a sugar syrup flavored with cardamom seeds and rosewater or saffron.
It was amazing. I may or may not be drooling writing this. They may not look like much, but they were so tasty and full of flavor.
Look at how official I was. Name tag and everything!
Since the party was still rolling after I finished my awesome meal, I decided to try another drink off the menu. Why not, right?
This time I had this incredible cucumber martini. Yes those are chunks of vodka soaked cucumbers floating in there, and yes they were awesome! Must recreate this drink!
Meredith came with me to this event too. She had an awesome time trying out the food and enjoying the wonderful ambiance.
Cheers to an awesome event!
Did I mention I loved my drink??
Thanks Cafe Spice! I’ll come back for dinner again soon!
Are you an Indian food fan? What’s your favorite dish?
If you want more information about Cafe Spice, check out my uwishunu article on dining there. They have some awesome specials and also feature live Indian music on Friday nights! That would be such a fun place for date night!

I like Indian food too. Did they offer Cardamon Tea? That's the greatest! Another place to try in Philly!
I've actually never had Indian food but my fiance is a big fan. I gotta get a blogging gig like yours so I can try new places in Jax!
Wow! Looks like a great place. It's absolutely gorgeous inside!
I've really never had a true Indian meal but I've seen the cuisine popping up on blogs everywhere. I ran by an Indian restaurant this past weekend that I would love to try!
I LOVE indian food! As a vegetarian, I think I have to love it. 🙂
