500 degrees in Philadelphia

As many of you know, I HEART my Uwishunu (pronounced ‘You Wish You Knew’) gig.  It pretty much rocks my socks off. I get to try some amazing restaurants and get to attend some fabulous events.

Another fabulous eatery on my to-try list was the brand spankin’ new burger joint – 500 degrees.

500 degrees is the lovechild of the owners of Rouge, the iconic restaurant on Rittenhouse Square, which I haven’t dined at yet, but apparently need to try!

I love the simplicity of the menu. It doesn’t get to crazy with choices – your options create a classic burger.

I love the inside space of 500 degrees. The walls are different colors and give the place an older, comfortable feel.

What’s a classic burger without ketchup and mustard?

I got the classic burger with cheese (I got it with tomatoes for the pictures, but I ate it without the tomatoes – you know how I roll).

I love the packaging it comes in! One focus of 500 degrees was to be as green as possible with a focus on simplicity and mobility on how they serve their food. There are no plastic trays used and all the packaging is biodegradable. Love that!

Two of my favorite things about this burger was the bib lettuce it came with and the amazing bun. The bun is actually a Challah roll from Wild Flour Bakery. Not your typical bun! Aside from the meat itself, those were two things which really made this burger stand out from the crowd.

You may think this burger looks on the small size, but you would be OH! so wrong! It’s still your typical burger serving size of 5½ ounces of beef. It’s just served thicker rather than flattened out. I enjoyed that little touch.

Can I just take a moment of your time to talk about the truffle fries?

I feel like they need their own paragraph because they are just THAT amazing. There are three different fry choices – plain, spicy and truffle. I had the truffle fries and I can honestly say that they changed my life. They were so good and so full of flavor, I am a truffle fry convert! I really don’t know if I can go back to just regular fries. You must go to 500 degrees if only for the fries!

The best part about 500 degrees is that it is so affordable. You can get a burger, amazing fries and a drink for around $10.00 which in Philly is pretty much a steal.

The burgers themselves are under $6.00 and that is amazing deal for what you get because it’s a gourmet burger in my book!

The word on the street is the shakes are out of this world too. I may have to make another visit very soon to test one out!

    holy truffle fries! i think this will def be on my list of foods to eat after the philly marathon. 🙂

    WOW! I love the look of the bun – so fresh and flaky. Another place to visit when I come to Philly – you're killing me with all these great restaurants to try! When I crave a burger, which is every 6 months or so, I like Red Robin's. Sounds lame, but they are tasty!

    I have heard so many good things about 500 degrees! I really should just trek over there on my lunch break tomorrow! Because of this post, I think I now will!!!
