In order to get a better feel for possibly signing up for the She Rox Triathlon this August I have been trying to get out there and focus on some new training other than running.
Last week I talked about some swimming training I was starting. Swimming is something really new to me. I was on swim team when I was a little kid, but since then I have never really gone out and done laps or anything, so it really is a new workout, which is fun!
Yesterday I busted out my bike from the garage in our apartment complex. It has been sitting down there since the Fall, through the entire Winter (and most of the Spring!) It was pretty dusty and needed a little tire pumpin’ action, but it was in good shape!
I really enjoying biking whenever possible and used to bike a lot more than I do now! I really love biking to school! Hopefully busting out the bike, wiping it down and putting some air in the tires will motivate me to get out there more!
I headed out on another gorgeous day in Philadelphia on my beloved Kelly Drive 8.5 mile loop.
Kelly Drive always keeps me entertained!
Ok, ok! You got me! I really love my Kelly Drive loop so much because whenever I run (or bike!) on it I get to see our Engagement spot! It always makes me smile!
If you are knew to the blog, check out our engagement story!
I forgot how tough it was to bike! Biking in the middle of the day in this heat is a serious work out!
I love my bike. I have a Trek Hybrid, which is awesome for off-roading, but’ it’s not the best for riding in the city. It doesn’t go super fast, and it’s heavy. I am not sure I can really race with this it.
What do you think?
I did 8.5 miles in 43 miles. I think I averaged about 4:30-5:00 minute miles. Is that super slow? I felt like I was pushing it, but others on real road bikes were flying by me!
Any biking suggestions are welcome!
If you are a biker – do you rock the biker shorts? I have an awesome pair of Pearl Izumi bike shorts with the awesome padding in the butt. They fit great and feel pretty awesome! They make my booty look like I am wearing a diaper! Ha!
After my bike ride I was quite hangry! I made myself a big Morningstar garden burger on a Arnold thin! My burger had jack cheese, lettuce, green peppers and mustard on it!
With a side of CheeCha potato puffs
It was a perfect meal! Yum!
After dinner I had big plans to go see Twilight’s – Eclipse! I am a big Twilight fan! Team Jacob all the way! I loved each of the books and I really think that they have done a good job with the movie’s! The first one was a little rough, but they have gotten better with each one!
I was pumped to be able too go see the movie on the day it opened!
I brought with me some red strawberries and grapes into the movie with me. I was feeling the red theme!
Eclipse was awesome! It had a great storyline with lots of fun action and adventure and not too much awkward staring by Edward and Bella. I loved all the new vampires in the movie! It rocked!
Another perk of the movie was that Jacob was shirtless 98% of the movie! Win!!
Are you team Edward or Team Jacob?

If you decide to get a roadbike, I recommend Craigslist, though it might help to get measured at a shop first so you know what you're looking for.
P.S. I had a strong urge to lick the screen when "Jacob's" picture came up. TMI? 😉
I went biking on my Trek yesterday, too! It was the perfect day for a ride. I didn't wear any padded shorts…and I'm seriously feelin' it today! I wore my Garmin for the ride – 16 miles – avg. pace was 5:03/mile. I have no idea what it means either! At least it's a fun time!
I am seeing Eclipse Saturday. I cant wait! Im team Edward although Jacob is kind of completely adorable.
I'm team Edward all the way, but Jacob is gooorgeous!!!
Love the Bike Shorts! I biked yesterday too, that old Roadmaster is awesome, today my bum in sore, maybe I should get a pair of those shorts.
Saw Jacob on O yesterday, he is gorgeous!
