I spent the entire day today doing laundry! It took forever and I didn’t want to start packing until I had all my laundry done so it all took a while!
I wasn’t really planning on packing too much, I swear. I thought I would have half an empty bag to check but boy was I wrong!
I decided to dedicate one of my carry on bags solely to everything I would need for the race. Heaven forbid my luggage gets lost, at least I have my outfit and shoes and all the things I need to run with me.
I figured that was one of the most important things!
I also have my new SLR camera bag, which I love with all my heart, and my very important new shoes!
The small grey bag is my real carry on. It will have my computer, a book, some magazines and some snacks!
And the big guy in the back is the bag I will check. It’s hard to pack for cooler weather! Lots of planning goes into that process. I swear I tried to condense. 🙂
I usually don’t have a problem carrying on 2 bags plus my camera bag, but if anyone says anything I can just hand a bag to fiancé since he will only have a backpack! Yay!
Jackson is currently protesting our leaving. He knows something is up and he doesn’t like it, but I know he is very excited to spend the week with Auntie Kate and Uncle Noodles!
Now it’s time to finish a few last minute things and then it’s off to bed to get up bright and early for Chicago! I am so excited to just GET THERE already!
I’ll talk to you next from the Windy City!
How do you pack for races you have to travel too? Do you over pack like me? I always say its better to be safe than sorry and not wish you had packed something!

Ah I cant believe your marathon is this weekend. Honestly, you can't possibly pack too much for this. Bring EVERYTHING you think you might need. So excited for you!
Good luck this weekend!
By the way, I'm just like you. I always overpack! I hate not having something.
I am an overpacker too, just can't help it! My first (and only so far) out of town race was the disney world half marathon last january, in which it snowed! I had a whole bag to carry on as well full of running stuff. I wasn't sure what I would need and ended up using more than I had planned for. Plus toss away clothes. Better safe than sorry, good luck and have a blast!
When I ran the Nike Women's Marathon last year, I was just like you. Overpacking and carrying on all of my race-day essentials. It's really important that you do! You're a smart girl!
You are going to do amazing at this and I can't wait to hear all about it!
Xo,
Erin
