This week we have been in celebration mode for Fiancé’s birthday so any excuse to have a little party and we are jumping at the chance.
I was recently sent a Wine Breather carafe to try out to possibly add to my OpenSky shop. I LOVE trying new things to share on the blog with my readers and this was no exception!
Let’s just say I had a lovely time testing this out!
I decided to bust out one of my latest wine purchases I got with Melissa and Lauren at Reading Terminal a few weeks ago to play with my new wine breather.
So the concept behind this wine breather is that wine develops and matures in the bottle, but most wines can further benefit from aeration before serving.
Aeration can tone down the acidity and bitterness of a young wine making it more accommodating.
Aeration Step By Step: Served from the Original Bottle
Open the wine bottle and place the wine breather in the neck of the bottle.
Use both hands to pick up the bottle and the carafe and turn them over (carefully!) and place the carafe on the table so the wine flows out from the bottle.
Watching the wine flow from the bottle into the carafe was the best part! It went down in waves along the glass.
You could also aerate further by repeating the process once more.
It felt like I was doing some awesome science project, but with alcohol, so it made it even more fun!
After you have aerated your wine, you have the choice of serving it from the original bottle or the sleek carafe.
We chose to be super cool and serve our wine in the carafe, I think it’s so modern looking – I love it!
Cheers! The wine tasted great, I really enjoyed it. I would love to try the wine breather again with a wine I have had on a more consistent basis and see how it tastes then, but I really liked it!
Jackson was there for emotional support.
Have you ever used a wine breather like this before? What do you think of wine aeration? Anyone have any tips or tricks up their sleeves on this matter?
After our adventure in wine aeration something magical happened in the kitchen – Fiancé made dinner!
Did your jaw just drop, because I still can’t believe I just typed that!
Fiancé felt inspired to make dinner tonight so I let him roll on with that inspiration! I hope it comes back again son!
He made an Asian inspired rice dish with veggies, egg and I think he threw some chicken sausage somewhere in there too.
A few scoops of his creation with a side of aerated wine on my Halloween placemat – Life is good.
