Knit One, Pearl Two

Greetings! It has been a lovely weekend in my world. We got snowed in (again) here in Philadelphia yesterday. Just a few inches on the ground, but it was enough to keep us off the roads for a bit. I got some wedding things done and cleaned around the house. It was a productive little Saturday!

How was your weekend?

Today is a bonus day for me because usually I work Sunday nights but not tonight! I am excited to kick back and relax with fiancé and Jackson.

Nothing better than enjoying a lazy night at home with my Jersey boys (and a glass of vino)!

I also have been spending lots of my ‘free time’ with my knitting needles. I have made a few scarves and hats in my knitting career – my more famous creations include matching scarves I made for Jackson’s and my Christmas card two years ago as well as a killer scarf I made for fiancé.  During my trip home to Virginia last month for Christmas, I picked up my bag of yarn and needles – and I have been on a roll ever since!

I forgot how relaxing it is to just sit back, watch TV, zone out while knitting up a storm! It’s so much fun to use that down time to make something!

I recently picked up this ball of yarn and I have been holding on to for a while. This will be the thinnest scarf I have ever made, which means its taking twice as long, but I like how its turning out!

Nothing like working on my scarf, sipping on a glass of wine and enjoying the night! Does that make me sound like an old lady? If so, I don’t care – this old lady loves to knit! 🙂

And thanks so much to everyone who entered my Vonny Bags Giveaway and a HUGE thank you to everyone who voted for Jackson! He appreciates all the love! The winner of the giveaway is:

Alex at I Love Your Whole Face

Email me your info and bag color preference! Congrats!

Stay tuned for another awesome week – but before I go, I need to know – Are there any other fellow knitters out there?

I'm an old lady too. I started knitting while a junior in college. When I was teaching a friend to knit while we were watching tv together, a third friend said "what are we a bunch of old ladies??" 🙁 I like knitting! I started with scarves and have made a couple sweaters (I've received compliments – and no one even knew I made them!) and I recently tried my first pair of socks for my husband. Have you checked out ravelry.com before?

I have picked up knitting a few times, but I just don't have the patience 🙂

I have an old lady streak in me. I knit and crochet, although I'm better at crocheting. I am in the process of supplying our kitchen with an ample amount of knit dish clothes!

I love that you knit! How fun! I am the least crafty person on the face of this planet. I have no patience and make big messes. I am jealous of your skills.

I used to knit all the time, but I haven't picked up my needles in awhile! I think I just need a new project…

    I knit!! 🙂
I've made a bunch of hats in different colours, two scarves and a couple of socks – not pairs of socks (because I got bored) but un-matching, lonely single socks 🙂

I spent a year living in Portland, Maine, and while I was there, one of my friends and I stopped in at a knitting store and asked the women there to teach us to knit. An hour later, we walked out with handmade hats! That winter I knitted up a storm, but haven't picked up my needles since I moved back to Philly (almost seven years ago! yikes!). Might need to remedy that this winter.

Sounds like we might get more snow this coming week…

I can say I am NOT a good knitter! You're gray scarf looks like it will turn out very even – good for you No, you are not an old lady, remember it's better to do something you enjoy and relax – at least you are doing something productive!

I've always wanted to learn how to knit! So sad because I have all the materials, but no skill. I should add that to my New Years resolution! Love the color you chose for your project!

I'm a knitter! I pretty much always have a knitting project with me. It keeps my hands busy and out of the chip bag. And I love that color gray – is that Caron's Simply Soft yarn? It's one of my favorites.

Knitting is a craft in which two needles along with thread or yarn are used to create fabric pieces or garments by creating loops in the yarn. Knitting can be used to create many types of fabric, from framed knitting artwork to sweaters, afghan quilts, throws, blankets, mittens, or even bedroom slippers.`”^:
