Today I fell back in love with running.
This is due in large part to the fact that I was able to run outside for the first time since probably before the New York Marathon! Yes, it has been THAT long since I have run outside (I am a wimp when it comes to running in the cold)
I had been planning to run outside today all week. It was going to be cold, but not too cold, not windy and a tad sunny. Perfect conditions to brave the winter elements for a run!
I hit the pavement and I started flying…
And it was amazing. I know I got so bored of Kelly Drive during marathon training this past Fall but I missed running here this winter!
I don’t have too much winter running gear (because I try to avoid it!) but I am happy to report that I dressed perfectly for the occasion – and my feet were happy to be running on the sidewalk again (the treadmill hurts my knees!)
I was representin’ with my Abercrombie pants, circa 1990!
These bad boys are FIERCE!
I had some minor issues pre-run that I had to deal with. I forgot to charge my Garmin, because it had been sitting in my drawer for 2 months, and apparently it reset itself. I couldn’t figure out how to get the settings back the way I like them – displaying time, distance and pace – it took a while but I figured it out.
I also couldn’t locate my shuffle, so I rocked out to Britney Spears on my Ipod Touch – a tad bigger, but it got the job done.
Other than getting off to a rocky start, it was a gorgeous day.
Still some snow on the ground, but its melting more and more everyday. Hopefully we are done with snow for the season, because I sent my winter coat back to VA with my parents last weekend!
I got a little camera happy because I was so happy to be running outside again – took lots of pictures on this run!
Side Note – Did you know I ALWAYS run with water? I am sort of a freak about it – can’t run without it. I am always fearful that I will need it if I don’t have it so I always run with it on me. Hydration is key! 🙂
Loved seeing the green on the ground on top of the hill in Laurel Hill Cemetery. Spring is right around the corner!
I came home and was pooped! 4 miles in 37 minutes after not running outside (or much at all really) for a few months! Booo-YAH!
Then I got attacked by Jackson! He hearts salty sweat. What a freak!
It felt amazing to get out there and run outside again. I hope the weather stays nice and mild so I can get my run on outside again soon.
I am officially back in love with running…and it feels amazing!
