Let me introduce you to my new favorite Mexican restaurant.
I must admit, I have walked by this place MANY a time in the past few months, but I didn’t think anything of it.
At first, I wasn’t sure what it even was. And then when I figured out it was a restaurant it took me a while to check out the menu & make the mental connection that I desperately wanted a margarita!
Let me just say that I am SO GLAD I went in for that margarita!
The Blood Orange margarita to be exact (aka my FAVORITE!)
I love everything about this restaurant. The food, the drink the decor.
It’s all spot on.
The only problem is everyone else loves it too & its not the easiest to get in with a reservation.
But it is worth the wait.
Oh! Did I say the Blood Orange margarita is my favorite? Well, for the record the Pomegranate margarita gives my favorite a run for its money! Lots of YUM going on in the margaritas here!
We started the evening off with some guacamole.
Clearly we hated it.
The boys tested out a tequila flight.
When in Rome Mexico, right?
One tequila, two tequila, three tequila…
Floor?
I was less interested in the straight up tequila & more interested in the fruity margaritas & fish tacos!
Blue tilapia, cabbage, avocado, lemon vinaigrette – it was one of the best things I have ever tasted. If I could eat one of these everyday of my life, I would be one happy woman!
With a side of brussels sprouts as well! These bad boys had manchego crema, requeson, poblanos, truffles, cotija & more. They were different that I have ever experiences my beloved brussels sprouts before but they were tasty!
Did I mention I really loved the vibe here?
There was so much amazingly tasty food & drink we ended up going home with a doggy bag.
Leftovers are the BEST! Am I right?
I am so glad we stumbled across La Calaca Feliz – did I mention the name translates to The Happy Skeleton?? Amazing, right?!
It’s so awesome to know there is a killer Mexican restaurant right in our neighborhood. I can’t wait to go back – I need more fish tacos & blood orange margaritas in my life ASAP!

I vote for the Pomegrante Margarita, but I’m not opposed for trying the Blood Orange one either! Looks like a fun place for sure, put that one on my list too!
