I hope everyone out there had as much fun ringing in the New Year as I did. This year, Charles, Jackson & I spent the evening ringing in 2013 with our New Jersey family including those visiting all the way from Chile.
This meant lots of new foods, drinks & traditions from South America.
There were LOTS of things happening at midnight – traditions old & new.
Here are a few of my favorites:
A spoonful of lentils at midnight for good luck in the New Year – CHECK!
Eat 12 grapes at midnight & make a wish for each month of the New Year – CHECK!
Put the biggest bill you have on you in your shoe at midnight to ensure financial happiness in the New Year – CHECK!
Take an empty bag around your house with you to ensure great travels in the New Year – CHECK!
Other highlights of the evening include silly string.
Crazy straws.
Striking a pose by the tree for Feliz Ano Neuvo
S’mores in the fire pit.
Lots of cuddles with Jackson
And of course champagne!
So at midnight we were kissing, drinking champagne, shoving money in our shoes, eating lentils, wishing on grapes, running around the house with empty luggage, banging pots & pants and spraying silly string around the house.
Needless to it was a little crazy at midnight – but lots of fun!
It was so much fun to ring in 2013 in a brand new way with lots of new traditions – I can’t wait to see what 2013 has in store for me, but I can already feel its going to be a great year!
