Last week, I did something I hadn’t done in quite a while – I went SPINNING!
I have been doing a little research online, trying to find different places to get my sweat on in Philly, that I haven’t been to yet. But let’s be honest, going to classes can sometime be expensive. So I have been on a mission to test out studios/gyms/fitness centers in the area where you can go & test out a class for free or at a discounted rate.
It’s a win, win situation all around – I get to check out a new gym location, check out the vibe, maybe meet a new friend & my body gets to experience a different workout – it’s so important to switch things up in your sweat sessions!
So this time, I tested out Body Cycle Studio – on 19th & Chestnut in Center City – they offer tons of spinning only classes throughout the day. And guess what, the First Ride is Free! Sign me up!
I really liked the vibe of Body Cycle Studio. You walk in & are greeted by a entire wall filled with chalk painted inspiration. It was a cool graffiti-inspired look & a fun way to share information about upcoming classes.
And then, if you were in need of additional motivation, the wall inside the studio is filled with awesome quotes as well.
My favorite is Lazy Sucks.
The one thing that stood out at Body Cycle compared to all the other cycling studios I’ve been to was all the space – and all the bikes! I got to class early to set up shop, since it had been a little while since my last spin class – but dare I say, it was just like riding a bike! Everything came back to me so easily & I was pleasantly surprised with how much I really enjoyed it.
Usually spinning isn’t my favorite activity – it doesn’t matter if I am marathon training & in the best shape of my life, spinning always proves to be such a challenge for me – in the best way possible. It doesn’t come easily for me, I have to work at it, very hard I might add & in turn I work up a major sweat. It’s good stuff.
Another cool thing about this studio & the bikes were the trackers on the front of the bike – I’d never used one during a spin class before, but it automatically hooked up to my heart rate monitor & synced up for the entire class. It was nice to see my heart rate, miles gone by & the RPM – which made it easier to keep up with the instructors direction throughout class.
So how many calories did I burn during a 45 minute spin class?
618 Calories Burned!
Pretty sweet sweat session if you ask me. Not too shabby of a burn for 45 minutes of spinning & a little stretching. I was pleasantly surprised when I looked down at the end of class to see the burn.
Obviously, I worked up quite a sweat.
Makin’ Spinning Look Sexy since Last Week
I had a great time at Body Cycle & will definitely be coming back for another spin class. I had a blast – I really enjoyed the studio, the location & the instructor. Can’t wait to get my spin on again!
What’s the best class/workout/fitness deal you have ever gotten?
