A Running Survey

I saw this fun running survey on Tina’s blog a while back  and I thought it would be fun to share with you on a rainy day. Ok, its not even close to being a rainy day today in Philadelphia. In fact, its pretty gorgeous out. So gorgeous in fact that this little survey, along with the beautiful day, has inspired me to go for a run. I hope it motivates you to do the same!

Best Run Ever

I have a few favorite runs:

Getting 2nd Place in the Cherry Blossom 5k – because medaling in a race is sweet.

2nd place

North Face Endurance Marathon Relay with a bunch of my favorite blogger buddies – its more fun to run with your friends! {notice any familiar faces?}

Disney Princess 1/2 Marathon – because Disney is awesome. {Notice any other familiar faces?}

And finally, anytime I run with Lauren. Because we take fun photos on our runs, and it’s always a good time.

I Felt Most Like a Badass Mother Runner When

I ran back to back marathons.

Yes, a little crazy and a lot badass, if you ask me. I ran my first ever marathon in Chicago {on 10-10-10} and 3 weeks later I ran the New York Marathon {which is currently my 26.2 mile PR}.

Three Words that Describe My Running

Social, Fun, Therapeutic

My Go-To Running Outfit

Running skirts are my jam. I am obsessed with them. You pretty much see me wearing a running skirt during any race. I also enjoy compression socks {while running & for after!}, a bright hat {to be easily seen in races}, a shirt with my name on it {so people can cheer you on!} and colorful shoes.

Quirky Habit While Running

I have to always run with water. I just HAVE to. Even if its just a few miles. It’s totally and completely a mental thing, but running with water is like my little security blanket.

I also have to run with my Garmin Forerunner  or my heart rate monitor. Tracking the milage and the time and the calories is extra motivation for me. How can you not be inspired when you see a 500 calorie burn?!

Morning, Mid-day, or Evening

First of all, I love this question. I really enjoy getting my run/workout done in the morning because then I feel like I have the whole rest of the day without it “hanging over me” – but in the beautiful area that I live in, its quite nice to enjoy an afternoon or evening run outside. But it doesn’t really matter when I go – what’s not to love about every step you take with gorgeous scenery like this:

I Won’t Run Outside When It’s

Really really cold. Or snowing. Or raining. I’m a wimp like that.

I think it’s due in large part to my new treadmill routine – I love listening to my kindle read to me on the treadmill or elliptical. I feel like I am being super productive while getting my sweat on. That little text to speech button on the kindle is awesome – the voice is a little creepy and it doesn’t always pronounce all the words right, but it works!

Worst Injury – And How I Got Over It

I pulled my groin on a training run while a few weeks before the Marine Corps Marathon. As you can see from this photo during the end of the race, I was not a happy camper. Truth be told, I don’t think I ever really recovered from this injury. It sometimes still flares up on me to this day and when it does I just rest it and take a step back from running for a few days.

Potential Running Goal for 2013

I would like to work a bit on my speed and go after my 5K PR. Ambitious, I know, but it’s something for me to work towards and I like that.

Next Race Is

Somewhere down the shore this summer. I like to randomly show up at races in the morning in the summer.

    Looking forward to hearing about your next race! Be careful and don’t pull your groin again.

    Fun survey! I am doing an olympic tri on 6/8. My favorite race was probably the 2011 Philadelphia Insurance Triathlon. Such a well organized race and the weather was perfect 🙂
