Thank you so much for all the kind words on my wedding dress makeover. I am really so happy with how it turned out and I was so excited yesterday to finally share it with you! I actually had been waiting for a reason to wear the dress for a while now so last weekend Charles & I decided to make our own reason to celebrate and headed out to the Water Works Restaurant for a lovely dinner. We have lots of things to celebrate – our 2 year wedding anniversary, my birthday and loving our life in Philadelphia.
Some of you may already know this little fun fact, but The Water Works is actually where Charles & I got engaged, coming up 4 years ago! It holds a special place in our hearts and it’s nice we live so close to it now too. It’s actually pretty awesome that we got engaged at such an iconic Philadelphia landmark – it’s nice to go back there for special occasions. Since our wedding we have acquired a few gift cards to the Water Works, which is an awesome treat, so it was nice to use some of them for a night out, just the two of us.
Fun Fact: Did you know the Fairmount Water Works is a National Historic Mechanical Engineering Landmark?!
It has been a gorgeous start to summer and we couldn’t wait to sit outside along the water underneath the tent.
The Water Works is known for their large collection of “fancy” water options. Charles & I started out with the Badoit, which is an effervescent water from France.
Along with some bread for the table
And we also enjoyed some wine while taking in the fantastic view.
Charles started off with the Caesar Salad, which was served with Oregano Croutons, Parmigiano Reggiano and Spanish Anchovy.
And we shared the Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes appetizer which was seasoned with Meyer Lemon Aioli and Paprika Oil.
For my entree I enjoyed the 8 oz. Filet Mignon which was served alongside the Water Works signature W-1 sauce.
Charles had the 14 oz. Delmonico Steak – needless to say we were both in the mood for steaks tonight!
Everything at the Water Works is served a la carte so we decided to get a side dish to share. I voted for the Sweet Potato Mousse but Charles isn’t a sweet potato fan so we ended up sharing the Buttermilk Chive Mash Potatoes, which were very rich!
And of course we saved room for dessert! Anytime there are donuts on the menu, you can guarantee that is what I will order and this night was no exception. Charles & I shared, but I at most of the Campfire Doughnuts which were Deep Fried Brioche with a Marshmallow Filling served with Vanilla Anglaise & Dark Chocolate Dipping Sauces.
Holy Yum. I would go back for this everyday if I could. So good!
During our entire meal the clouds were doing some crazy things, but the rain held off and we just enjoyed the scenery. Check out these views:
Can’t believe we sat in the same seats almost 4 years ago right before we got engaged. So much fun to be able to re-live that night with my husband.
As our meal came to an end we were able to enjoy a bit of a sunset along the Schuylkill. It was a magical evening out for sure!
