How far along are you? 14 Weeks! Officially in the 2nd Trimester. I think it’s weird the 1st Trimester is 14 weeks and the 2nd & 3rd are 12 weeks. I personally think they should all be 13 weeks and 3 days per trimester to make it even, but that’s just me.
How I’m feeling: Feeling pretty good, still having some nausea and last week every afternoon/evening was filled with headaches and heartburn {not fun}. We had a pretty busy weekend {with lots of parties} – by the end of everyday I was exhausted and my feet were aching. I’ve been trying to take it easy with this heat too but I have been noticing that I’ve had more energy & I was able to do some cleaning/organizing this week too. I’ve also had some round ligament pains, which the doctor said is completely normal – everything is just moving around and making room for baby!
Total weight gain: Still no real gain from my pre-pregnancy range. I’ve read that during the 2nd trimester you will start to gain about 1 pound a week {for an average of 25-27 lbs during the 40 weeks} so I am assuming my weight will start to pick up a little soon.
How big is baby? Baby Brinks is the size of closed fist! Cool, right? {Also about the size of a lemon} Baby can now squint, frown, grimace, pee and suck his/her thumb. Pretty impressive, if you ask me.
Maternity clothes: Did a little maternity clothes shopping this week & got some great deals including my first pair of maternity jeans. Seriously, I don’t know why everyone doesn’t wear maternity jeans all day everyday. They are the most amazing things ever. I am a little sad it’s too hot to wear my new jeans right now because if I could, I would wear them all the time. It’s going to be tough to go back to regular pants, I’m already dreading it!
Stretch marks? Started using Bio-Oil this past week, as the instructions said to start in the 2nd trimester. Honestly, I don’t 100% love it. Anyone have any other stretch mark creams they love? I’d rather more of a lotion than an oil base.
Sleep: Up on average 2-3 times a night to pee but I am going to bed pretty early most nights because I am pretty exhausted by the end of the day. In the beginning of my pregnancy I was waking up super early {and feeling sick/needing to eat} but recently I’ve been able to sleep in a bit more, which I am enjoying.
Best moment this week: Hearing the baby’s heart beat at my doctor’s appointment.
Movement: Ever since 10 week appointment, at each check-up the nurse starts off by asking me if I can feel the baby move yet. At first I was completely throw off guard & thought she was joking because I thought it was way too early for that but she was completely serious. I was asked again this week and while I feel things in my stomach all day {gas?bloat?baby?} I have no idea what any of it is. Since every pregnancy is so different, every woman feels things and has different experiences at different points in her pregnancy – so it’s exciting not knowing when these little moments will happen for me!
Food cravings: Meat, Honey Roasted Peanuts, Cookie Dough Milkshake, All the fruit, especially peaches – Get in my Belly.
Food aversions: Chicken {yuck!} – Had some this weekend and almost gagged. Seriously, not into chicken.
Belly button in or out: Charles pointed out this weekend that my belly button is changing a bit – it’s more open {if that makes sense?}, especially at the end of the day/after eating a big meal and I can feel the lower part of my stomach getting a little harder – things are definitely shifting!
What I miss: Sushi. specifically spicy tuna. Yum!
What I’m looking forward to: Having an actual baby bump and not looking like I ate too much lunch! And being able to wear my maternity jeans!
Milestone: We were able to schedule our Anatomy Scan for the end of August which will {hopefully} allow us to find out the baby’s gender. Yes, we most definitely want to know – Pink or Blue!

Glad to hear things are progressing well! It must be very exciting to know soon if you’ll be having a boy or girl! Can’t wait to hear!
Mama Mio Tummy Rub is amazing. A friend highly recommended it to me and I love it. Since it gets a little pricey, I use the Tummy Rub and Boob Tube in the morning and Bio Oil a night – at 28 weeks I am still completely stretch mark free!
Hi Leslie! I know it’s been years but I check out your blog from time to time and was so excited to see your news – congratulations!! I actually just had a little girl this spring. It’s the best/craziest time you can imagine. Hope you and the babe are doing well!
Weleda Stretch Mark Oil is the greatest product on earth. I used it every morning and every night for 7 months and not a single mark appeared. amazing.
Good luck with everything – can’t wait to read your updates!

So happy to read and experience your pregnancy updates! Thanks for sharing all the exciting things that are happening to you daily! You look awesome!
You look so cute! I wouldn’t worry too much about the stretch mark cream — they’re mostly hereditary, so ask your mom if she got them. I didn’t use any cream and I got HUGE when I was pregnant and didn’t get any stretch marks. Good luck! <3
