How far along are you? By my super fancy pregnancy calendar says that next week starts the 6th month of my pregnancy! So crazy to think that because I think 6 months is pretty far along, but I don’t feel like I look 6 months pregnant!
How I’m feeling: Feeling pretty good aside from the fact that it’s been a little crazy traveling so far this past week. When we made plans to visit Chile, months ago, it was before I was even pregnant. Then after everything was booked we didn’t know how big I would be or how I would be feeling. But I’ve been doing good aside from some lower back/tailbone pain after walking too much during the day. I’ve been taking it easy whenever possible and making sure to hydrate, eat right & rest.
Total weight gain: Up about 5 pounds from my last doctor’s appointment, will be updating monthly after each visit.
How big is baby? Baby is about 10.51 inches {crown to heel} – about the size of a cantaloupe or a pomegranate – which seems pretty big to me!
Maternity clothes: Been living in maternity clothes for this trip – I have decided that I am carrying pretty low and I have been feeling it in my belly after a long day.
Sleep: Not sure if it’s all the travel or what but I’ve not been getting the best sleep this trip. There isn’t any real time change in Chile so it’s nothing to do with jet lag but I think my body clock is just a little off.
Movement: I am happy to report that I feel little kicks and punches every day! It’s so exciting! Baby really likes to move in the morning when I first get up and at night when I lay down on the couch & put my feet up or get into bed. It’s the best little feeling in the whole wide world!
Best moment this week: Charles was able to feel the baby kick from the outside for the first time this week too! It was so amazing to be able to share that with him – it actually happened while we were on the tarmac waiting for our plane to take off. Since then both my mother-in-law & sister-in-law have also been able to feel baby too!
Food cravings: Empanadas, Tacos, Donuts, Salad with Lemon Juice, Apple Juice, Sparkling Water, Hot Chocolate
Food aversions: Chicken, blah!
What I Miss: Being able to drink! I don’t really miss the actual drinking part, but with this being my first vacation without enjoying the occasional cocktail it’s been a bit of a bummer. I love traveling and being able to try local beers and new wines so missing out on all that
What I’m looking forward to: I can’t wait to share the kicks with my parents in 2 weeks!
Milestone: I think traveling 27 hours while 21 weeks pregnant is a pretty big milestone. We are spending the next week in Santiago & the surrounding area so it will be fun to continue to experience South America with my growing baby bump!
