Baby Bump: 26 Weeks Pregnant

shadow bump

How far along are you? 26 Weeks! We are OFFICIALLY in the double digit countdown – as of today we have 98 more days until my due date! Seems so close by so far away at the same time, even though I know it will fly by! I’m just excited that we are now in the double digits – can’t wait to meet this little guy!

How I’m feeling: Feeling good – it’s been a busy week with lots of things to do around our new place so Charles & I have been running around like crazy people all week getting things done here and there. Because we’ve been so busy I’ve been staying up much later recently – so I’m a little more tired this week – but I know it will all be worth it as we hope to have most of the bigger things done by the end of the month! {fingers crossed!}

Total weight gain: As of my last doctors appointment I am up 9 pounds.

How big is baby? As of this week, baby is weighing in at the 1.5 – 2.5 pound range! Baby is now about the size of a head of lettuce. Grow, baby grow! A focus this week is on brain development as over 50% of baby’s energy is now going towards its growth. Also as of this point, baby’s eyes are completely developed and may start to open & can also sense light!

Maternity clothes: I love my friends – I was starting to run a little low on pant selection this week when I opened my door one day to find my new neighbor dropping off a massive sack full of all her maternity clothes – including a TON of pants! She just had a baby boy 5 weeks ago, so it’s nice to know another person on our block with a baby boy!

In other maternity clothes news I picked up a pair of full panel maternity leggings which are lightweight & perfect to wear with boots & tunics in the Fall. I may live in them for the next 3 months. Now I am on the hunt for a really awesome dress {or two} for my upcoming maternity photo shoot – any suggestions as to what to wear?

26 Weeks

Sleep: For me, sleep now consists of 3 hour spurts of closing my eyes and then waking up to pee. Fun stuff. I also go to sleep most nights with lots of heartburn, no matter when I eat dinner.

Best moment this week: Working on my registry with the help of Sabrina – I honestly had no idea what I needed to register for so it was great to go with a friend who could give me lots of advice. I’m trying not to load up on too much that the baby will grow out of in the first few months {and then we will be stuck storing the items!}, so I am borrowing a few key things from friends – which is awesome! Honestly registering for a baby shower is totally overwhelming to me – there are so many options, so much to choose from and so much unknown! You don’t know how big baby will be or what he will like – it’s going to be trial and error with a lot of things so I’m trying to keep that in mind – but all the stuff is so cute it’s hard not to want everything!

Movement: Little guy moves all the time – my friend Aileen got to feel him this weekend, it’s so fun to share the movements and the overall excitement with friends!

Food cravings: Lucky Charms, Chocolate Milk, Tacos, Honey crisp Apples, Fierce Grape Gatorade

Food aversions: Chicken

What I Miss: Being able to bend over with ease! Starting to get a little difficult!

What I’m looking forward to: Finishing up the painting project in our house!

Milestone: This isn’t a milestone yet but I hope it will be by next week – we are in the process of deciding on a stroller. It’s proving to be SUCH A HARD DECISION! For me, I am looking for a stroller that is easy to use in the city, has lots storage and good, strong, stable wheels. I’ve been reading reviews, watching videos and going to every store imaginable to test drive them – not to mention asking all my friends, and anyone walking by with a stroller their opinion on the subject matter. Any tips or insight on the stroller subject? I will be using this stroller everyday, as we live in the city – so I want it to be easy and comfortable to use as we will be taking it out more than our car.

Please let me know your thoughts and opinions!

    I highly recommend the city mini. Its such an easy stroller to use. The BOB is also a great stroller but very heavy.

    Check out the Baby Jogger City Mini! Folds with one hand, and is stable, although despite its name it is not a jogging stroller. I’ve also heard good things about the Baby Jogger City Select.
