Baby Bump: 31 Weeks Pregnant

How far along are you? I remember it wasn’t so long ago I was dying for the day I would reach double digits in my weeks pregnant countdown. Over the Summer I felt like 10 weeks pregnant was such a huge milestone, and it was, but now we are counting down the weeks until we get to meet the little guy and it’s such an exciting time! So we are officially counting down in the single digits as of today – 31 weeks pregnant, 9 weeks to go!

How I’m feeling: Feeling really good overall, but some things are slowly but surely getting a little more difficult each day – like bending over to pick something up or tying my shoes {I’m pretty much exclusively wearing boots I can slip on at this point}. Baby is getting heavier in my belly for sure – I can feel him more and more – especially when he is dancing on my bladder, which he happens to do most of the day.

Total weight gain: Up 13 pounds since my last appointment – my next appointment is tomorrow & then I will be going every 2 weeks.

How big is baby? This week baby is around 3-3.5 pounds – about the size of a coconut, a pineapple or 4 naval oranges – he can now gain about a half a pound a week from now until birth! Yikes – I feel like we are going to seriously run out of room in Hotel Bump! His lungs will be the last thing to fully develop, but he is still practicing breathing 30-40% of the time which is pretty cool. Baby’s bones are hardening and all 5 sense are in working order too!

Happy Hour Bump

Maternity clothes: I have been very busy re-evaulating my pre-pregnancy wardrobe & seeing what will still work with my growing belly. As I mentioned before, I don’t have much maternity winter wear, so I have been going through all my clothes, trying things on and seeing what is still wear-able at this point. Luckily, I love tunics and flowy tops with skinny jeans and boots, and even more luckily, I have a bunch that seem to fit – like this {similar} sweater  – Fingers crossed I can get through the next few weeks with my current wardrobe!

Sleep: Heartburn & bathroom breaks. What sleep?

Nursery Building

Best moment this week: Setting up the crib in the nursery! Now that there is actual furniture in there, it’s starting to look like a real home for our little baby. We completed painting, Charles put together the crib, added some curtains, organized the closet and today the dresser/changing table is being delivered! I also got a phone call yesterday saying our glider/ottoman is finished and will be shipping soon – I really can’t wait to get that in the room!

Movement: All. The.Time. He moves when I walk, when I sit,  when I cross my legs {and again when I uncross my legs}, when I put my feet up and when I sleep. I can feel him growing because when he moves and stretches he has one body part on one side of my belly and another part on the opposite side. He also made a few movements towards the land above my belly button, which he rarely travels too. Another gross movement this week was when he was pushing against my belly button – grossest feeling ever, it’s like he was trying to pop it out & I was holding it in there. Gives me chills to think about, such a weird feeling!

Food cravings: All. The. Chocolate Milk. Pomegranate seeds, Muesli – all sorts of random things. I went to Trader Joe’s the other day and came home with the weirdest selection of groceries. I probably shouldn’t be allowed to go grocery shopping along any more without a very specific list, and maybe a time limit.

Food aversions: Chicken – I also can’t decide how I feel about turkey. My mom keeps asking me if I want something different for thanksgiving and I don’t know if I want it or not.

What I Miss: Life without heartburn & bathroom breaks every 5 seconds.

What I’m looking forward to: Going home to Virginia & my VA Baby Shower this weekend! Eeeek! I haven’t seen my parents in 2 months {a lot has changed since then} – I’m so excited to see them and the rest of my family and friends at my shower! It’s going to be so fun. I’m also staying down there through Thanksgiving weekend {hubs is joining me later next week} so it’s going to be really nice spending some quality time at home, it will be the last time I will be home before the baby arrives!

Milestone: Been educating myself a lot this week. We have signed up for childbirth & breastfeeding classes but lately I have been feeling like I don’t know what to expect in terms of the delivery {and after!} so I’ve been reading anything & everything. I’ve enjoyed this book so far & was reading it to Charles while he did some work in the nursery – there is so much we didn’t know! Any other book suggestions to add to my list?

I highly recommend Harvey Karp’s Happiest Baby on the Block. The did is great too. I also loved his sleep book. So exciting! Good luck in the final weeks! I had horrible heartburn too and it disappeared the moment baby came out. =)
