Baby Bump: 38 Weeks Pregnant

38 weeks pregnant

How far along are you? I can’t believe that these are the  last few Baby Bump posts I will be writing – after sharing them for almost 9 months, every Tuesday! 38 Weeks pregnant sounds so crazy to me – I can’t believe it, but I am so ready for this pregnancy journey to end & the new journey with our baby boy to begin! I also can’t believe I have been pregnant for 266 days! Wow!

How I’m feeling: Not feeling so great – I am ready for labor to begin! I feel so big & every little thing is getting crazy uncomfortable. I have been having cramping throughout the day/night which means labor is on the horizon {but at 38 weeks, labor better be on the horizon!} I can’t complain too much because my pregnancy has been great so far, but these last few weeks are seriously rough.

Total weight gain: Up 3 pounds from my last appointment – Total gain is 23 pounds.

38 weeks

How big is baby? This week baby is weighing in close to 7 pounds – about as big as a pumpkin! – He is continuing to add fat & gains about an ounce a day. As of my appointment last week I am 2 cm dilated, 75% effaced & at -1 station – so baby could make his arrival at any point – I’m excited to go back to the doctor tomorrow and see what progress we made in the past week

Maternity clothes: I have officially taken to wearing my husband’s clothes. His sweatshirts and his jacket {which still won’t fully button} have become a staple in my wardrobe. You can also see from my weekly photo in this post that baby is so low now that even my maternity leggings aren’t fitting right – they are popping out at the crotch with my bump! I can’t wait to be in normal clothes again soon!

Sleep: I have been having crazy dreams lately – not sure if thats pregnancy related or not. Getting up every few hours to pee again, usually don’t get more than 3 hours of sleep in a row without having to wake up – I guess this is preparing me for those sleepless nights with the babe, but it would be nice to really rest up before his arrival. Guess that won’t be happening.

hospital bag

Best moment this week: Packing my hospital bags! I was inspired after everyone’s comments last week & got my butt in gear to pack that bag! Everything is in it’s place ready to go when we need to go – definitely makes me feel less anxious for sure. I can’t wait to share with you what I packed – stay tuned!

Movement: Baby is still moving and grooving – it’s still hard to decipher between what is a Braxton Hicks contraction and what is him pushing a limb out but he usually makes his movements known. It’s weird now that at this point I can push down on the top of my belly and feel him by my pelvis. Crazy.

Food cravings: Five Guys Cheeseburger, Chocolate Milkshake, Chocolate Milk, Homemade Pasta, Homemade Pizza – apparently baby is HUNGRY!

Food aversions: Chicken still sounds super gross to me.

What I Miss: Really was craving red wine this week.

Jackson in the nursery

What I’m looking forward to: Baby’s arrival! We are ready for him anytime he wants to make his appearance! I am crossing my fingers it’s sooner rather than later – this waiting is even harder than the waiting in the beginning of the pregnancy! Everyone is on the edge of their seats waiting for “the call” and I get texts & messages on a daily basis at this point asking if I’ve had the baby yet!

Milestone: Our nursery is complete! I shared it on the blog the other day and I am so happy with how it turned out! Check it out and let me know what you think! Charles & I also completed our pre-jordan class this week at our church so when we are ready, baby Brinkley can be Baptized – it feels good to check another thing off our to do list pre-baby!

Just waiting her in Virginia for “The Call”. Maybe Baby Brinks is waiting for his clothes to be washed?

Crazy dreams are completely due to pregnancy. Oh the crazy dreams I had when I was pregnant with Edith and lately I have been having insane dreams with baby #2.
