So crazy how much changes in one month –
Especially in terms of a newborns life!
The past 4 weeks have been an absolute whirlwind, and I feel like I have been crazy spoiled because Charles stayed home with me for the first two weeks after the hospital and my mom has been with me for the past two weeks.
Next week, sh*t’s about to get real – I’ll be all on my own with the little man.
I still can’t believe Brooks is 4 weeks old today – it feels like time has flown by & crawled by at the same time {much like how pregnancy was for me at times}. In terms of height & weight progress for the first month we have our 1 month appointment on Monday – I can’t wait to see how much he has grown! But since I have been going to nursing support group a few times, they weigh him there so I do know the little man should be about 9 pounds by now – which would mean he has put on a little over a pound since birth! Wow!
In other baby news, honestly Brooks has been a dream. He {knock on wood} really only cries when he is hungry or has a diaper – the rest of the time he is pretty chill. He gets a little fussy in the early evenings but other than that he’s been a really great baby.
The past week he has had a bit of a cold, which forced me to do something I never thought I would do…
-> Buy and Use the Snotsucker.
Luckily it wasn’t nearly as bad as I thought it was going to be and it really helped clear up Brooks’ stuffy nose. When I see my little babe suffering, there really isn’t anything I wouldn’t do – and apparently that includes sucking snot from his nose. But in all seriousness, the product was sort of awesome. Two thumbs up!
In terms of sleep things have been going as good as can be expected. I am still feeding Brooks around 9/10pm and then manage to sneak upstairs for a head start sleep of an hour or two before the little man comes up to bed. Those 2 hours are amazing because the baby isn’t in the room so I can really sleep. Other than that he usually goes a few extra hours between feedings at night, which is awesome, but this past few days since he hasn’t been feeling great, he’s been getting up a little more. Nursing has still been improving, I started pumping this week & Charles gave Brooks his first bottle – we are hoping to get the little guy used to having a bottle a day.
Other one month updates include baby acne {boo!} and the occasional appearance of a smile or a rare laugh. He’s become so much more alert in the past two weeks, it’s so fun to watch him watch the world go by.
Also baby cuddles are the best.
Can’t wait to see how Brooks grows in the next few weeks!
And here are a few screaming baby pictures for your viewing pleasure –

I like to think of this as Brooks’
Blue Steel look.
He’s been giving lots of smiles lately
when he plays on his Activity Gym
I’ve had a blast going to a local nursing support group
I’ve learned so much & we’ve made some new friends!
Baby’s First Bath
He only cried the first time & since then he just hangs out
& enjoys the warm water!
Brothers.
Jackson’s still not sure about our new addition.
I can’t wait for the weather to warm up a bit so I can utilize my carrier more.
I’ve busted it out on a few warm days and I love baby wearing!
Obsessed with his {too big } winter hat!
And his cheeks!
Loving up on my little man.

He’s a cutie! You’re doing a great job! So nice you had your mom there! I saw you had some great meals! That’s huge! =) I remember those evening hours being tough. They call them “the witching hours”… just have to ride them out and know that they will end eventually! Cute post!
Brooks is so adorable, o my gosh! Love him 🙂
It warms my heart to see how you have grown into the mommy role – Brooks is so lucky to have a mommy and a daddy that love him so much! Love all the adorable photos of Brooks First Month!
You have the cutest little man! Glad to hear everything is going as smoothly as possible with a newborn
I am due with my first, a boy, in early July. Can you tell me your favorite newborn outfit of Brook’s and the brand? I love boy clothing.
Nikki – Don’t have a favorite brand yet. I love everything at Baby Gap, also the Tea brand & Nordstrom Baby are really cute. Whats your favorite so far?
Etsy has some cute stuff but I haven’t bought anything through them yet. Our parents have gotten us almost everything Carter.
He is so darling!
The night hours get so much better, I promise! Right around 6 weeks is when things settle into a bit more of a routine, so he’ll start going to ‘bed’ a bit earlier. That was a lifesaver for me b/c I can not go to bed past 10! haha.
He’s such a love. Whitney said, “Perfect head!”
Aww!
