So I posted a few weeks ago about our backyard redo that my dad, brother & Charles fixed up before Brooks’ baptism. Today I wanted to give you a little tour of our backyard garden area & give you a little sneak peak as to how much we love spending time back there, now that the weather is warming up!
Here is what our backyard looked like before, pretty much nothing there –
And here is the after –
Have I told you lately that I now LOVE spending time in our new little {outside} area ?! It’s the perfect extension to our home in the city and I love how it gives us additional living space to enjoy and soak up the fresh air!
As you can see, aside from all the new flowers & plants in the garden area, we added some new furniture and decor to the mix as well.
Our new backyard patio includes:
patio dining set {similar}, lumbar pillows, cushions, fire pot {same one, different color}, grill {similar}
Side Note – How cool is this little fire pot, I can’t wait to use it!
The previous owners left the plant holders on the cinderblock wall & I am glad they did since I have now filled them with herbs that I am really excited to use for cooking!
I added Sweet Mint, Italian Oregano & Lemon Thyme to the herb pots since they don’t require as much sunlight as some of the other herbs and they seem pretty low maintenance, which was a prerequisite for all plants purchased!
Since our backyard has been revamped into a place we can actually spend time in and now that the weather has been cooperating we have been out there all.the.time. On the weekends we enjoy breakfast & coffee in the morning sun and when Charles gets home from work we have enjoyed a drink or two out back while discussing our days, we have even done some grilling out there too. Brooks loves the fresh air in the backyard in his favorite bouncer & Jackson enjoys laying on the bricks soaking up the sun.
This past week we have been enjoying our backyard with Brancott Estate’s newest wine selection – Flight Song. It’s been so lovely being able to take advantage of the extra hours of sunlight while enjoying a delicious glass of wine. From the picturesque vineyards of New Zealand, Brancott Estate Wines introduces its new variety of vintages, “Flight Song.” Harvested earlier than other wines when the sugar levels are naturally lower, this process results in a full-flavored and complex wine that is naturally 20% lighter in calories.
As a part of the Millennial Central for Brancott Estate Wines blogger program, I was sent two bottles of their newest wines to try out. As a breastfeeding mama, I do still like to enjoy a glass of vino now and then – it just takes a little extra preparation having a pumped bottle ready for Brooks, but it’s so nice to relax and unwind when I can!
Charles & I were able to try out the Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Grigio Flight Song wines – I was excited that we were trying out white wines because they are so nice to enjoy in the Spring/Summer weather. When we did the tasting, I poured both of them & had Charles blindly taste which one he liked better – his first pick was the Pinot Grigio while I enjoyed the Sauvignon Blanc but both were really good. The Sauvignon Blanc was had some floral/citrus notes and it was very light, but a little sweeter than the Pinot Grigio which was a little crisper. Depending on my mood, I would order either of them when out for dinner/drinks!
I very much enjoy the fact that these wines are 20% lighter in calories – not only is bathing suit season very much upon us but I am still a few pounds shy of my pre-pregnancy weight. I’m not restricting my diet because I am breastfeeding {and I am hungry ALL.THE.TIME.}, but I am making smart choices and those extra calories in cocktails/desserts/treats can add up!
I know it’s going to be such a fun spring, summer & fall soaking up the sun & enjoying the fresh air in our backyard garden area. Adding in some delicious drinks, only makes the experience that much more enjoyable.
Thanks so much to Brancott Estate for the Flight Song tasting!
