As a new mom, I’m now ALWAYS on the hunt to find awesome places to sweat {to burn off that baby weight!} I feel good about how far I have come in 4 months, but I still have a few pounds to go to get back to my pre-baby weight. For me, finding the time to workout {and the energy!} has been a bit of a struggle {not to mention the fact that breastfeeding makes me SO HUNGRY, all the time!}
Aaannnd it’s swimsuit season! So I’ve been making the extra effort to make working out a priority this Spring. Luckily for me, I was recently given the opportunity to check out a new Yoga and Barre Studio that opened in Center City – Focus Barre and Yoga.
Right now, any time away from Brooks is few & far between {and must be spent wisely, since I generally only have 2 hours or so, since I am nursing} To get me out of the house a workout needs to be motivating, not to mention tons of fun {and effective!} And you can find all those things and more at the classes at Focus Barre and Yoga!
The new studio Focus Barre and Yoga is at 19th and Chestnut Streets (1923 Chestnut St), on the 2nd and 3rd Floors. It combines the fine-tuned yoga classes from Focus Fitness Main Line, with the popular barre classes from sister studio Barre Focus Fitness in Haverford.
A little more about the classes offer at Focus Barre and Yoga:
Yoga classes include a beginner yoga series, restorative yoga, power yoga and complimentary meditation classes. Focus Barre and Yoga also offers their signature classes:
- Focus Yoga: an all-level, warm vinyasa/flow class set to music
- Focus Yoga Hour: incorporates all the goodness of the signature Focus Yoga class but is designed for those with busy schedules
- Focus Yoga Happy Hour: incorporates the same elements of the Focus Yoga class but is set to groovy music and is a fun creative flow
Barre 60-minute classes include Barre Focus Fitness and Barre Cardio, which use small movements and isometric muscle holds designed to work muscles to exhaustion, then stretch and lengthen muscles. The movements are specially designed to tone your arms, tighten your abs, and lift your seat. Barre Cardio is more advanced and blends the most effective isometric barre exercises with cardio components.

Center City!
I’ve attempted a barre class a few times and didn’t quite enjoy it (although I want to) – hopefully a new instructor would help!
I would love to try a barre class out! Center City!
This is awesome. I just hurt my leg and will be looking for some new exercises to do this summer instead of running. I would love to check out the Center City location!
I love trying new classes and the center city location is right near me!
Haverford. I am 36 weeks pregnant and I will need something to get me motivated this summer. That studio should be about 20 minutes or so away from me.

I’ve never been to a Barre class, but have always wanted to! Being a runner, I’m always looking for other forms of cross training to make me a more well-rounded athlete. Living in Center City, I’d pick that location!
I feel stuck in a bit of a fitness rut and live super close to the Haverford location, so I would love to win this!
I used to LOVE Focus Fitness! My favorite Saturday activity was to take a spin class with girlfriends followed by their yoga class to work out all the kinks!
I’m trying to get in shape for my wedding… these classes would be a nice change up from the normal routine! Love that there’s a center city location!
I have been in a major yoga rut, just practicing at home. I need to be reinspired! (Center City!)
I’d like to try this at the Center City studio.
I recently had a baby as well (10 weeks ago). Trying a barre class is something I would love to do but like you said it’s tough to be away from a nursing newborn. Barre workouts seem like they target the “trouble spots” that running for strength training doesn’t hit. I’d love to win classes to the center city location.
I’ve always wanted to try a Barre class because I’ve heard that its so good for toning! Enjoy your classes!
I’d love to win at the center city location

I would love to win for the Center City location! I just moved to Philadelphia two weeks ago to attend graduate school at TJU. Needless to say I need help finding a yoga studio to love and maintain my sanity. Focus Barre and Yoga seems like the perfect fit for my busy schedule and need for relaxation/fitness/variation! Thank you for your consideration :).
