I’m back from a beautiful {seriously, gorgeous!} weekend in Charlottesville, Virginia.
If you follow me on Instagram you got a little taste of our trip, but today I wanted to give a little recap on the blog of how I spent my first weekend away from my little man.
Here’s a recap of our travels -> long post alert, it was a jam packed 48 hours!
King Family Vineyard
We started off Saturday with a trip to King Family Vineyard – the whole reason for our travels down South was because my sister-in-law is getting married at this vineyard next year and we wanted to check out the wedding location one year out. So it was fun to start off our weekend with a visit to this beautiful spot.
It was the most perfect day – crossing my fingers the bride has the weather we had this weekend, next year! – and we enjoyed the views and the vino this vineyard had to offer.
If you are in the area I highly recommend stopping here. It was beautiful and the wines were very tasty! I can’t wait to be back next year for Kate’s Big Day!
Blue Mountain Brewery
After tasting some delicious wines we headed out to Blue Mountain for lunch and some beer sampling with some more great views.
We enjoyed a cheese platter and some seriously amazing pizzas for lunch.
And obviously, we had to do a beer tasting too.
Devil’s Backbone Brewery
After lunch we headed out to Devil’s Backbone to try out some more brews. The views here were amazing as well, and I think you can tell from the photos that it was just the most beautiful day ever.
Here we enjoyed a leisurely game of bag toss/corn hole / whatever you want to call it. It was so nice to be able to enjoy the scenery outside, while sipping on some tasty beverages.
Bold Rock Hard Cidery
Our final stop of our tour de alcohol was Bold Rock which had a entirely new tasting facility. It was gorgeous and spacious and had a great vibe to it.
The ciders we got to try were delicious and refreshing – perfect for this time of year.
Oh, and did I mention this view..
The cidery had a really great outside space with tables and chairs and lots of grass for kids to run around {while the parents enjoyed a drink!} There was also a really beautiful stream that we decided to dip our toes in.
We had a little bit of fun here.
Just a little.
It was a great way to spend a beautiful day in Charlottesville by checking out some of the local breweries, a winery and a cidery.
Outfit of the day details -> Sunglasses / Dress / Boots
If you are ever in the Charlottesville area, I totally recommend any of these stops we enjoyed during our travels. They were lots of fun!

And now a little info on WHERE all these fun photos came from ->
Today I also wanted to share with you a fun new app for documenting life together in shared experiences with friends and family – Seahorse!
I used this app over the weekend and it was a great way for everyone to have access to each others photos. All photos and videos shared in a Seahorse scene are co-owned, or belong to, everyone invited to that scene. It’s great for intuitive organizing and sorting by date, location, friends and scenes make it easy to find and share memories, which are saved in their original resolution and everything is always private.
The app was so easy to use & set up and it was great to share photos with both iPhone & Andriod users together. Each scene is a separate album that other users invited to the scene can add photos, comment and share. It’s great for when you are traveling and one person gets a great family photo – adding it to Seahorse & everyone has access to it immediately.
It’s super user friendly and is also a great way to store photos – i love that you can access the photos you have saved on Seahorse from any other device – computer, phone, tablet – anywhere by simply logging on. It also keeps track of WHERE you take the photos, which is fun to see if you travel a lot!
And a little special offer to new users -> Seahorse is offering an extra 5GB of storage by entering the promo code: CLEVERHORSE. This promo code is good until October 31, 2014, and each user can only use it once.
To redeem:
- Tap the icon on the top left corner to access your account settings
- Tap “Redeem”
- Tap “Write code” and enter CLEVERHORSE
- Tap “Go” on your keyboard
Download Seahorse for iPhone & Andriod
