I Blame the Baby

on the run

So….I didn’t get around to post anything yesterday.

I blame the baby.

I also didn’t get to finish {or start?} the Friday Favorites post I had planned for today.

I blame the baby.

I also have come down with a cold that the little man had earlier this week.

I blame the baby.

It’s a good thing he’s cute, or he would be on my list!

littlest sir

So in the essence of time, sanity and my {sort of} sickness – as I am currently resting up for my first weekend away from said baby {!!!!}, more on that later -> I wanted to give a few shout outs for some happenings I wanted to spread the love about on the blog. It will be a different sort of Friday Favorites, if you will.

First Up -> Don’t forget to enter my Stella & Dot Giveaway. Lots of pretty, sparkly things to be had from here. You don’t want to miss out! BUT if you do miss out, the word on the street is that there MAY be another Stella & Dot giveaway coming up again very soon..stay tuned!

Next on the agenda -> Philly Friends!  On Sunday, October 5th, the lovely folks at Philly Magazine are hosting their second-annual Philly Mag Shops, which is a huge, one-day-only warehouse-like shopping event. It’s the  best of Philly’s shopping scene, all gathered in one place. This year they have rounded up thirty of the best and local designers, and they’ll all be selling their in-season merchandise at huge discounts: ALL apparel will be 40% off, all jewelry is 25% off, and everything else (shoes, bags, scarves, belts, gift items) is 30% off. Plus, lunch, drinks and free beauty treatments.

You can buy tickets here (and get more info on which shops are participating!) -> I’ll be there & would love to see you too!

Fellow Runners! I signed up for another race! The RUN10 FEED10 charity race series is making it’s way across the United States!  The concept is simple: run a 10k and feed 10 people in your community.

The RUN10 FEED10 event series started off last weekend with a bang in  New York City where thousands of participants ran down the West Side Highway for the timed 10K race.  RUN10 FEED10 will also host timed races at Chicago’s Diversey Harbor (10/19) and across the famed Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco (10/26) and many more (full list below). Each will include post-race wellness festivals featuring yoga sessions, nutrition and beauty consultations and great giveaways.  Included in your registration is your race entry, your donation of 10 meals, and a limited-edition FEED bag.

Plus, if you don’t live in one of the official cities, you can still run on your own and get all the benefits by feeding those in your community and a limited edition FEED bag. -> Which is what I am doing! BUT I still think there totally should have been a race in Philly! Maybe next year!

If you are interested in signing up use this code ->  (R10F10PR) for $5 off your entry fee!

So yes, I am leaving my little man for the first time this weekend. I came down to my parents house in VA earlier this week and am heading down to Charlottesville later today for a weekend away. I’m excited for a fun weekend {and to SLEEP!} but I know I am going to miss him like crazy.

So if you have any tips/advice/words of wisdom on your first night away from your little one, please share!

ALSO – If you have any recommendations of things to do, places to go, etc in the Charlottesville, Virginia area – please share that as well! We will be down there all weekend!

Follow me on Instagram for weekend updates!

Walk around the downtown mall! Great shopping. And there’s a fabulous Farmer’s Market there that I walked around a few weeks ago – it was unbelievable.

the wineries around charlottesville are awesome. Definitely check out Barboursville (fancy) and Burnley (very casual). If you want a fancy dinner, Barboursville’s restaurant (Palladio) is well known and we’ve had a good meal at Ivy Inn when we’ve been down there in the past. Enjoy the weekend, we had our first baby-wknd in May when our son was 5 mths and are counting the days to the next one in Nov when we’re going down to Charlottesville again 🙂

KERF’s website helped me recently plan the BEST bachelorette weekend in CVille this Spring! From her recs, we really liked The Local for dinner and my absolute favorite winery of our trip was Pippin Hill. SO beautiful! You’ll have a great weekend down there!

We lived in C-ville last year. Definitely check out the pedestrian mall and City Market on Saturday morning. Carter Mountain Orchard has amazing apple cider donuts and apple picking. Monticello is a great, historical site to tour also. There are also a ton of wineries – Trump, Jefferson, Blenheim – which is owned by Dave Matthews. Enjoy!
