Cherry Blossoms with Brooks

If you follow along on Instagram you know that yesterday we spent the day down in DC checking out the Cherry Blossoms. This was a fun little trip for my mom and I that we had been planning for a while – we did the same thing last year when Brooks was 3 months old. This year it was such a different experience because little man is toddling all over the place!

We went on what I thought was a random Wednesday, a day after peak ended, so I thought that we would have the place to ourselves but I was wrong – the place was packed! We started out letting Brooks roam around the Library Gardens which was so beautiful because all the colorful flowers had popped!

After that we took a stroll around the Tidal Basin to check out the Cherry Blossoms and take some {read: a million} pictures. The day before it rained all day long and it was pretty windy, so I wasn’t sure if there would be any blossoms on the trees left, but luckily there were!

But there were also lots of blossoms on the ground too. Brooks enjoyed rolling around in them! Ha!

The day started out sort of hazy but towards the afternoon the sun started to peak out a bit.

I took my 18 week bump out to enjoy the blossoms as well. So crazy to think that this time last year I had a 3 month old and now I have a 14 month old who is walking all over the place and another one on the way! Time sure flies when you are having fun.

Brooks loved being out in the park walking around – it’s literally a whole new world for him now that he is mobile. He went from walking like he was going to fall over with every step to being pretty confident two weeks later. He’s pretty fearless and confident – he’s not afraid to take off on his own and see the world. This little guy is going to be a handful.

It was also a fun day because my sister in law, Kate {who lives in DC} got to meet up with us and spend the day with Brooks. She met up with us last year too so it was fun to continue the tradition – I’m hoping we can come back again next year {maybe during peak?} and take Brooks + baby #2 back again!

Since we had the whole day to roam around we stopped for a nice lunch and enjoyed some of the other landmarks in the area. We walked around the Washington Monument and even took Brooks to wave hello to Obama.

We had a blast during our day downtown – there’s always so much to see and do there. On a nice day it’s so great just to walk around and take in the sights. We took my Urbini stroller along for the ride and it was a nice ride for Brooks, very comparable to the Bob! I love it!

Adios DC, see you next time!
