Happy Birthday to ME!

No Friday Favorites today!
I shared my Birthday Wish List last week & last night I was surprised with a night on the town, so my regularly schedule Friday Favorites post will have to wait! I just HAD to share with you a little peek into how I started out my birthday!
Yesterday I THOUGHT I had plans to go out with Aileen for my birthday. She suggested we take Brooks & head out for some sips + eats. I was ready to go out with her at 5pm when she showed up and said she had a surprise. Then Charles called me on the phone from work and said to get ready, we were going out. I was confused because I thought I was going out with Brooks + Aileen. I hung up the phone, Aileen said she made me a hair appointment, that she would be babysitting & I was going out to dinner with Charles, just the two of us!
I was pretty shocked and completely surprised. I gave Aileen some ideas for what Brooks likes for dinner, gave a few instructions and she pushed me out the door. I was treated to a nice little pampering service at a local salon around the corner, threw on my new favorite Maternity Dress and was picked up by Charles for a night on the town.
Charles had made reservations at Talula’s Garden {one of my favorite spots in the city} We hadn’t been there in YEARS and I always suggest we go there but it hasn’t worked out in a while – so I was so excited to be going back!
Our meal was amazing and didn’t disappoint! We shared a cheese plate, the Dandelion Fig Cesear Salad, Charles had the lamb, I enjoyed the short ribs and we ended our meal with a chocolate cake topped with toasted marshmallow + peanut butter ice cream. Yes, it tasted as amazing as it sounds.
We sat outside under the white lights so it wasn’t a great photo op for taking pictures of the meal, but I did take a pretty picture of our cheese plate, which was seriously to die for.
Seriously, yum!
It was such a great night and was so special to be surprised by the hubs + one of my BFFs – such an amazing treat and so unexpected! I loved it!
Now off to enjoy the rest of my birthday with my little man!

Sounds like the perfect gift from your friend and husband! Beautiful dress on you and Talula’s is one of my favorites, too. Enjoy your day!
That cheese plate looks A-MAZING!!!! Enjoy your day…..what a fabulous surprise!
You are loved! What a thoughtful birthday surprise! Great photos too!
I’ve read that pregnant women should avoid unpasteurized cheeses or soft ones like brie, feta, blue, etc. Did you have any problems finding ones on the menu you could enjoy? I’d love to go there and I love cheese but I’m nervous! First time mom here being super paranoid, I know.
Hi Meg,
Everything on the menu was clearly marked if it was raw or unpasteurized so we just swapped those out and were good to go! Restaurants and any places selling food have to clearly label anything thats unpasteurized, but sometimes we still like to ask! You should totally go to Talula’s! It’s so amazing and a nice treat!
