With Brooks I did a postpartum check-in {body, mind + spirit 7 months postpartum} and looking back at that now seems really late to do a little update. I had my 6 weeks pp check in last Friday and I figured now was a good of time as ever to give a little update on how I’m doing in terms of life with two littles.
Body
I am feeling really good about where I am with my body 6 weeks after delivery. I am about 5-8 lbs. {depending on when I weight myself} away from my weight before I got pregnant. And I’m pretty sure most of that is in my boobs! Woo! I think part of this is luck, part of this is nursing and the other part is that I am chasing around after 2 littles all day, I’m lucky if I get to eat some meals! I’m just so busy all the time! It’s nuts!
I was able to fit into a few of my pre-pregnancy jeans at about 4 weeks and it’s been nice to wear things other than maternity clothes – so I’m happy about that. I have been trying to soak up the warmer Fall weather as much as possible with walks outside – before it gets too cold to take both babies out in the winter! I’ve also been trying to get in my fruits and veggies when I can, but honestly the diet part has been the hardest – finding time to prepare meals is rough! But I’m doing what I can when I can and for now thats good enough for me!
Mind
I think if you follow me on Instagram you know that since coming home from the hospital, we’ve been going non-stop. I’ve found it’s sort of impossible to take time to just rest, relax and enjoy the newborn phase, and it’s mainly because I am trying to keep my toddler entertained. Brooks is at an awesome age and he loves to explore and I love to let him explore. I stay at home with my boys, not so we can stay at home all day but so we can be out – at the zoo, aquarium, museums, play dates, everything. We live in the city so it’s a little easier to do all that, but with a new little baby, it makes everything slightly more challenging.
That being said, as much as I would love to curl up on the couch with Graham for a few months, I really do like to be on the go. While I can sit and crush a Netflix binge session with the best of them, I would prefer to be spending my days out and about. I like to keep busy! It makes the days a little more challenging but a lot more fun. And I love to expose my littles ones to lots of different things – bring me joy and makes me happy!
Spirit
I feel really good and I feel like I’ve been able to adjust to live with two under two really well, really quickly. Part of that has a lot do to with all the help I’ve been lucky enough to have! Charles stayed home with me the first two weeks, then we went to Charlottesville for a long weekend – my mom comes over two days a week consistently {she get’s here at 7:30am! Love her!} and my mother-in-law has been amazing helping out too! Without all the help and family support so close by I’d be in a whole different ballgame.
But on the days I have help, I get everything done – all the shopping, errands, meal prep, laundry, cleaning – and on the days I’m on my own I schedule play dates with friends. It’s been really great! I feel like we are starting to get in a little groove and I like that.
I think I’m also in a good place because Graham has been a pretty good sleeper <knock on wood> and eater and the whole newborn thing is less of a shock the second time around! All this has been major in keeping my spirits up for sure!
All in all it’s been an amazing 6 weeks. I feel like i’m in a great place and I’m obsessed with my little family! I’m not looking forward to the cold winter months, I feel like we are going to have to get a little creative there, but I am looking forward to spending the holidays with my two boys!

I am thrilled that you are feeling so good and have adjusted to life with 2 under 2. I love being there for you anytime you need me! Keep positive and each day will be good!
Wow you look amazing! It took me forever to lose weight after my firstborn (up to a whopping size 10 from my typical 6 on my 5′ frame). After #2, it wasn’t this was but quicker because running after two is tiring! Good luck, and I hope you get some rest 🙂
