Today was Brooks’ First Day of Preschool! It’s been a crazy week between Graham’s First Birthday yesterday and Brooks starting school today – this mama has had an emotional week of my little babes growing up way too fast!
I was a little unsure about how today would actually go. This was Brooks’ first time being away from mom, dad or the grandparents. It was my first time leaving him with someone that wasn’t family. I got him this book which we’ve been reading the past week, talking about preschool, his classroom and his teacher. I kept telling him how mommy would be dropping him off and picking him up a few hours later – he seemed good with it, so I wasn’t really sure what to expect.
Brooks has been a tad emotional lately – lots of “Mommy, I need you” so I wasn’t sure if he was sensing the change that was about to happen with him going to school or just some classic ‘terrible two’ action happening. Today, we hoped for the best and prepared for the worst.
We had a whole entourage for Brooks’ walk to school today. Both sets of grandparents came over to see him off – it was a little preschool parade walking to school with Brooks leading the way.
And of course I took no less than a million pictures in the course of a 10 minute walk there!
See, I told you!
Once we got there, Brooks was really ready to go. He said goodbye to his entourage at the door so it wouldn’t be as overwhelming once we got into the room. Charles and I took him up to his class.
Again, we weren’t sure what to expect – Charles even took off a half day of work just in case we got the call to go get him – but Brooks was perfect! He had a blast and when we all picked him up he was all smiles..
Minus a little bandaid on the head – apparently he took a spill on the playground but got right up to keep on playing, even with a scratch and a bump! So proud of my little man!
All in all it was a great day. We went out to lunch after school and Brooks had tons of stories to share and loved to chat and chat about the whole day. He is excited to go back next week – so fingers crossed it goes as well then too! I’m so happy he had a great time!
