Boys love to build.
I’ve learned that early on.
I’ve also found that Brooks is at a age where he really loves to PLAY and he can do so much with his toys. He has a great imagination and he loves to make things come alive- it’s so fun to see him at work! This winter, while going through our toys and taking ‘inventory’ I’ve also come to realize that we have so many baby toys in the house and not too many little boy things that Brooks would really enjoy and grow with!
Luckily, Christmas and Brooks’ Birthday is right around the corner, so I’m sure that’s about to change.
But until Santa makes his way to Philadelphia in a few weeks, our friends at LEGO® DUPLO® sent a little package for Brooks and Graham to enjoy!
How nice is that?!
Being a boy mom to two littles under 3, this was my first time experiencing the DUPLO experience – I had heard people talking about it and their kids loving them, but until your little is old enough to play with something, it’s easy for it not to be on your radar.
I’ve recently found that both boys are at the PERFECT age for DUPLO bricks right now.
If you aren’t familiar or your little isn’t old enough yet -> LEGO® DUPLO® preschool building toys are specially designed for the small hands and big imaginations of children aged 1½ – 5 years – I love that this is a toy that BOTH my boys can play with together, for years to come! It’s so amazing to see them both playing with something that is challenging them both for different reasons. And as a added bonus, DUPLO bricks are twice the size of standard LEGO bricks, making them a safe way to kick off a child’s building career.
Graham loves learning to stack the blocks {and then knock them down} and Brooks enjoys building small structures – he’s even started role playing with mini figures a bit! LEGO® DUPLO® is a great toy for open-ended play at every stage of your young one’s development.
The DUPLO® blocks are large enough in size for the little hands to handle but also small enough to be challenging. I love how the shapes have changed a bit since I played with them as a kid, and there are tons of new accessories and additional figures to add to the fun.
Inside our kit was the Horse Trailer LEGO® DUPLO® which came with 2 figures: a mom and child, plus a horse. It also features a buildable car and horse trailer with opening top as well as a practice jump with a bar that can be knocked off. Brooks LOVES the car and the trailer!
We also received a sturdy, iconic LEGO® brick-shaped storage box and inside was the All In One gift set – which you can build a tree, house and even a small shelter for the cat and dog to play in. This included a cat, dog, window element and selection of other LEGO® DUPLO® bricks.
We will definitely be adding to our LEGO® DUPLO® collection over this holiday season and beyond I’m sure!
We’ve had so much fun with our LEGO® DUPLO® and in the spirit of Christmas, I want to give away a LEGO® DUPLO® kit to one of my fantastic readers! You guys are so awesome!

I love to tickle my son! His giggle is the best sound in the world. He loves playing with his cousin’s Duplo sets so I know he would love his own set. I love to sing songs to him as well.
We have some pop up tents and a tunnel that are a big hit these days with both of my little guys. Sometimes the dog likes to get in on the action too:)
My girls and I like dancing together but when it just the two older girls we like playing board and card games.
I have a two year old and one on the way! We love to pretend to cook and bake in her pretend kitchen!
Forts and tents are the favorite in our house — probably because we really get into it and building them takes us back to our own childhood so the kids really feel the excitement!
We love to play outside, play with firetrucks and dinos, and cook things in the real and pretend kitchen.
My favorite way to play with my little man is outside! Although with it being winter it’s tough right now. So in the mean time were playing with choo choos and blocks ALOT!
My son is all about trucks! We love to play with them both in and outside. And building a tower is a close second. 🙂
I have been looking at these for my January birthday girl! My daughter has recently found a love for playdough. Indoor toys are going to be crucial since we spent so much time outside when the weather was nice.
I have a 15 month old and she is loving her teddy bears and elmo dolls right now, or putting together blocks and taking them apart!
My favorite place to play with the little ones is outside! Jumping on the trampoline, biking or hiking around with the dogs is our go to! Now that its colder out… we are having a harder time finding things to do inside.
My daughter loves imaginative play.
Dance parties and building towers out of ANYTHING!
We love Duplos too, but I think Magformers are the family favorite!
My two year old played duplos at a friend’s house recently and has been obsessively talking about them ever since! We would love to win. Our favorite way to play lately is making pizza out of play dough and building houses and towers out of blocks. Totally neat how much their imagination comes out at this age!
I love exploring different corners of our city with the boys – museums, pools, music classes, tumbling, or just wandering around to different parks and playgrounds!
Playing chase or building with magnetic tiles!
I love building towers and knocking them down together. My kids love dance parties!
My 11.5 month old got her first set of Duplo (farmers market) at Thanksgiving. She’s still young but she already loves to stack the legos and “drive” the truck. We love building stacking cups too and knocking down the tower.
My kids love to play pretend- super heros or princesses it doesn’t matter. They really get into their roles.
Tennessee is a very busy boy! I love to take him to the park and play outside! When the weather doesn’t allow for that I love to read with him and play with his cars and trucks!!
My little guy loves being outdoors! Throwing balls, painting on his easel, playing in the sandbox. He would probably play with the Duplos outside!:)
My 2 year old loves to build too. He likes markers and paints and being a messy little guy!
This post is so timely! I have an almost three year old little boy who just discovered how amazing Duplo is! Our favorite playtime activity right now involves trucks, cars and trains! We love to spread everything out on the floor and use our imagination. Such a fun age!
Such a great gift idea. My 2 yr old would love playing with these!
My 3 year old little guy is obsessed with building with anything and everything! One of his favorites are a suggestion you made last year-the tegu magnetic building blocks. It so fun to see his imagination come to life when he builds! He would love these Lego Duplos :).
I love to go to the park with them!
Thanks for sharing. Trent is just under two and we are trying to find some more age appropriate toys that can also grow with him. These seem perfect. Right now we love watching him explore and play cars.
I have three boys, and they all LOVE Legos. We definitely like to play with Legos, and play outside (weather permitting).
What a great give away – my grandsons would absolutely love this set – they enjoy playing with Duplo Legos now!
Coloring and building things
My kiddo AND hubby would love playing with these. 🙂 we love playing outside and exploring nature together.
We love magnatiles and lately is making a fort out of the couch cushions!
Building it something my 19 month old is really starting to get into! We love building towers with his megablocks then knocking them down. These would be perfect to expand on his love for building!
