the lularoe Carly – 14+ ways & a lularoe leggings giveaway

Hello and Happy Monday! Starting to get back in the swing of things after all the Holiday craziness! It feels good to get back to the grind and start up with a routine again!

Today I have an exciting post that I’ve been working on a while. My friend and lularoe consultant Kristie McCrosson saw some of my style posts I have been sharing on Instagram, some that often include lularoe and she offered to send me a piece of LLR to style and share on the blog!

The Carly happens to be my favorite lularoe piece, so this was a no-brainer for me! I liked a few of her patterns in her FB group and it was exciting to see which would actually appear on my doorstep!

I am in LOVE with the gorgeous blue, floral, pops of yellow and bit of black geo print in this Carly. I was so excited to try some different looks with it and I came up with 14 different ways to share with you! I didn’t even try to style different shoes with the dress, the possibilities are already endless. Fortunately, my Hinge Over the Knee Boots {now on sale!} that I had received in a previous Trunk Club order went with every single look.

Side Note: as I look at these pictures all lined up together, its very clear how I like to pose. Haha!

Ok, first up is the Carly just it’s regular way. I love the sleeves, the neckline {which is perfect for any necklace, you just have to watch with the print here} and the bit of high-low hemline. I am wearing a XXS here in this dress – for the Carly you usually go down 1-2 sizes – BUT since it’s such a versatile piece, I do own them in XS and size S because I loved certain prints so much and the sizing isn’t much different. Just a little longer!

Next up, I did one of my new favorite tricks – I knotted it with a hair tie in the middle of my back inside the dress. This brings in some of the fabric and if you did get a larger size because you loved a print, it helps bring the material in for a more fitted and flattering look. It also takes away the high-low aspect if you want to change it up. It gives it a interesting look all bunched together too – I dig it!

Next up, I tied a knot on the outside of the bottom corner of the dress. This would look extra cute with leggings or distressed skinny jeans to give a little pop of leg, but I thought it was fun with the over the knee boots too, just a extra touch of skin, since the dress is very modest on it’s own. This is a fun look to do with oversized tunics as well.

And now – a belt! Because the Carly is a swing dress it does have extra fabric in the middle area, which you can use to make a cute look – especially if you size up! I feel like this little bit of belting, which I actually covered up made it look like a completely different style dress – I love it! What do you think?

A simple scarf is also a fun way to change up a look and give it a different look. The one I am wearing is similar to the vinyasa scarf and is fun to wear all year long, with any outfit!

I’m sure it’s no surprise that I decided to add my olive green utility vest to my list of looks – of course it looks adorable with the dress. There’s nothing this vest can’t do – paired with the dress again next time, I would probably add some sneakers for a sporty look on a warmer Spring or Fall day!

If its not warm enough for the vest look, I also tried on the Carly with the Fleet Jacket thats very similar to the utility vest, but with sleeves and a little more warmth! I am a HUGE FAN of a neutral olive green – no matter the color, print or outfit, it always seems to work. Makes it more casual in a interesting way, in my opinion – what do you think?

Next up is my magical mustard yellow sweater coat. I got this a few years ago and it always seems to work with so much in my closet. {here’s one thats similar from where I got mine – and on sale}. I love a mustard yellow. I love a sweater coat and I love how it makes the yellow color of the flowers on this Carly pop!

And of course I am always inclined to pair my lularoe Carly with the lularoe Sarah – a duster cardigan that I’m obsessed with. I have two of these and want one in every color – they are the best. This grey one goes with everything.

I also thought would be fun to pair the Carly with a denim/chambray button-down. It’s a nice extra layer if you want to add some warmth and I think the blue looks really cute with the pattern in the Carly – fun to tie at the waist too!  The denim shirt I’m wearing is featured in this previous post! Another great piece to have in your closet!

And I also threw on three of my favorite jackets with the Carly – these will be great for the spring/fall when the weather cools up a little and you just need a light layer. A black leather jacket {similar} my old school jean jacket { I’ve had it since HS!} and the classic Downton Field jacket in blue. All easy ways to change up the Carly look !

And since it’s winter and it’s pretty cold in Philly – I thought it would be fun to layer a grey sweater over the dress and I love how cozy it looks and feels! Such an easy way to change up the look of a dress and give it a little kick!

So now that I’ve shared with you 14 different ways I’ve styled this lularoe Carly – I’d love to hear which is your favorite?!
