Our Kid- Free NYC Weekend: Eating & Drinking Our Way Through Manhattan

This past weekend the hubs and I snuck out for a weekend away in NYC! We were there to celebrate our friends wedding and were able to join 3 other couple friends to have some fun with!

It all started with an Amtrak ride and an iced coffee!

This mama was ready for a little break!

We checked into our hotel in Midtown East Manhattan and then set out to have some fun!

Our first stop: Crimson & Rye

Apparently it was Negroni Friday at Crimson & Rye, and I was happy to oblige! I went with the NGO Negroni – Street Pumas Gin, Cocchi Rosa, Aperol, Campari, Grapefruit.

It was 100% as delicious as it looks and sounds!

We had late dinner reservations with our friends once everyone got into town so we decided to share a little bite. This Brussels Sprouts + Roasted Tomato Flatbread with fresh mozzarella + balsamic glaze was insane! The perfect start to the weekend.

Can you tell that this mama is excited for this weekend away?!

After a drink and a bite we headed back to the hotel to change and get ready to meet everyone for dinner. I wish I took an outfit post to show what I wore, because I LOVED it, but it was too dark for #ootd pics.

The struggle is so real.

But it was this jumpsuit. It was so much fun to wear for a fun NYC night out with friends! Great price too!

After changing we met everyone for pre-dinner drinks at Blackbarn Tavern, which was recommended by one of my good friends who used to live in NYC. It’s a cool little spot with fun drinks!

I enjoyed the Jack of Spades: Jack Daniel’s, Chamomile, Honey, Fresh Blackberries, Iced Tea

It was amazing. If you go to this farm to table spot in NYC, get this drink!

Next it was time for dinner! We met our group at Scarpetta, which actually has a location in Philadelphia – but I’ve never been to it before. After this amazing meal in NYC, you can bet our next night out we are going to Scarpetta in Philadelphia because this meal was insane.

As with many restaurants for dinner, the lighting wasn’t great for photos, but here are a few snaps of our meal. We got a bunch of plates for the table to share and here’s a look at {some of} what we had!

Above: Cauliflower Romanesco: roasted, salmoriglio, herb bread crumbs

Below: Braised Octopus: artichokes, marble potatoes, celery, guazzetto charred scallion vinaigrette

The pasta here was homemade and INSANE.

I can’t say enough good things about it – I had some tastes of these and ended up getting the Akaushi Wagyu Strip as my main meal, which was incredible. Already dreaming about my next meal at Scarpetta in Philadelphia!

The next morning I woke up bright and early for a walk in Central Park and Brunch #1 with my friend. It was a perfect morning for a stroll before a busy day getting wedding ready!

We decided on Sarabeth’s Central Park South location, because it was right along the park! It was just us girls and we knew we would be meeting the boys later for Brunch #2 so we kept it light with Avocado + Burrata Toast – sunnyside egg, petite greens, espelette.

Yes, this was absolutely as delicious as it looks.

After that we did a little more walking and exploring around the city before it was time to meet up with the boys. We decided on The Smith in Midtown for second brunch!

I wanted something somewhat light and somewhat filling, since I knew it would be a while before we had dinner at the wedding, so I went with a Steak Salad: arugula, endive, red onion, goat cheese, tomato, balsamic.

It was perfect and delicious!

Also a Bloody Mary, because Brunch #2!

After second brunch the girls made their way over to get blow-outs and updos before the wedding at DryBar. This was my second time getting a blow-out and it was just as amazing as the first. Such a nice little treat before a big night out.

I debated getting an up-do but went with The Cosmo style and I loved it!

Here’s my look for the black-tie optional NYC wedding.

I tried on about 20+ dresses before deciding on this classic little black dress.

And my FAVORITE part of this look are the heels. These NearlyNude Sandals in Lamè Platinum were EVERYTHING!  100% worth the money as they were so comfortable, I wore them all around NYC and dancing all night long. They are beautiful and I can’t say enough good things about them – even more beautiful in person!

Our group met for drinks before the wedding at The Pierre Hotel in the Two E Bar which was PERFECT for a big group all dressed and ready to go.

And then we enjoyed the beautiful wedding of Amanda & Greg at The Harmonie Club.

This was a really cool spot, the venue was beautiful and fun but the food was OUT OF THIS WORLD.

Seriously this filet was the things dreams are made of! And writing this post it looks like I had a ton of red meat on this trip! Ha!

It was a magical 48 hours away. I loved being able to spend a fun weekend with friends and enjoy some of what NYC has to offer. I hope we can come back again soon and next time squeeze in a Broadway show!

What’s your favorite thing to do in NYC? Let me know!
