Jen Lancaster Does It Again!

Pretty in Plaid: A Life, a Witch, and a Wardrobe, or, the Wonder Years Before the Condescending, Egomanical, Self-Centered Smart Ass Phase Pretty in Plaid: A Life, a Witch, and a Wardrobe, or, the Wonder Years Before the Condescending, Egomanical, Self-Centered Smart Ass Phase

I love Jen Lancaster. I loved her previous three books just as much as I loved this book. This book was about Jen’s life growing up. She discusses her family, her school years, moving, and college life, all the while pairing certian outfits which remind her of those specific events. I was so lucky to be able to go to her book signing in DC for this book. I got my picture taken and everything! I had to wait in line behind hundreds of other adoring fans, but it was an awesome day for me! This book was just as fabulous as the previous three. She makes you laugh…A LOT! I also felt I had just a better understanding of her because she makes references to some things from past books. I just felt like we were old buds, reminiscing about the good ol’ days! Seriously, if you haven’t checked out her books yet, you are missing out! She rocks!

Pretty In Plaid Book Signing

Last night I went to my first ever book signing. I got to see Jen Lancaster, who just released her fourth book, Pretty in Plaid. I know I have turned some of my friends on to her books, but seriously, if you are looking for an awesome read, check her out. Her first books are titled, in order of being release, Bitter is the New Black, Bright Lights Big Ass and Such A Pretty Fat. Girlfriend is freaking hilarious. These are the only books where I read them, and literally belly laugh out loud. People look at me like I am nuts, but I just enjoy her writing so much. They are all memiors, and the way Lancaster recounts her life adventures is just such a treat for the readers. I can’t get enoug of these books. Check out my review of the previous three here

Lancaster read an excerpt from her new book which was cool. We got to hear how a certain event in the story happened, somewhat in her own words. She also told us a bunch of side stories to go along with it which was cool.

Then there was a quick Q&A session and then it was on to the book signing. This took a while. There were 300+ people there, and I was right in the 150+ range, so I had to wait a while in line. That sucked, but I munched on a Chocolate Z Bar and started reading the book.

It was so cool getting to meet Jen Lancaster. I was nervous, I am a bit of a freak when it comes to meeting ‘celebrities’ so I just told her I loved her books and she said thanks and that was about it. Totally worth it though! I seriously LOVE her books, and if you are looking for an awesome read, check them out. She told us she has already sold the rights to her 5th and 6th books, so there is more Jen Lancaster coming! Yay!
