New Additions to My Bookshelf

After work I went out to run some errands, I had some serious shopping to do for the Blogger Valentine’s Day Gift Exchange. So excited to send out my present! I also picked up some books I am excited to open. The first one is pretty self explanatory because I heart chocolate. The Healing Power of Chocolate sounded very interesting to me because, lets face it, that’s an awesome concept. I will be sure to report back on how it is, plus it was in the bargin section, so it was a win-win!

The second book, Why Hasn’t He Proposed, came across to me today in an email query I get from Peter Shankman. I read the title, and thought it sounded very interesting.

The book claims to help you:

– “Determine if he’s truly “Mr. Right” – or hopelessly “altarphobic”
– Figure out why he’s afraid to get married – and how to calm those fears
– It event includes a relationship timetable that will tell you exactly when to take the next step – straight down the aisle”

I love the tag lines. “Get him to say, ‘Let’s Get Married.’ No Pressure. No Nagging. No Ultimatums. So you’ve found the love of your life. Good For You! But after dating the guy for months, even years, you’re starting to wonder: Why hasn’t he proposed? This is the book for you.” I have to say I am intrigued as to what it is going to say. After being in a relationship myself for 3+ years, (boyf, this is your shout out! Woop Woop!) I want to see what the husband and wife team have to say. HAHA! I just read the back of the book, and it says, ‘Shhh! Keep your pin-him-down plan a secret and download a faux cover to wrap around the book.’ Check that out here. I love it. I’ll report back on my findings!

Sylvia Weinstock’s Sensational Cakes

Today I had the great pleasure of working with Engaged! Magazine at a luncheon for wedding planners at Oxon Hill Manor. The guest of honor at the luncheon was none other than the Queen of Cake’s herself, Sylvia Weinstock. She was there promoting her new book, Sensational Cakes. I had the great pleasure of meeting with her, and got a signed copy of her book as well. She is the nicest, most down to earth person ever. In her speech she told everyone how she was first a teacher, then a lawyer, then a mom, then a sub and somewhere in between all that she found her love for baking. She started her business at 50 years old and now 30 years later she is a legend for her cakes world-wide. The book is beautiful and the flowers in the book made out of sugar are breathtaking. PS. I love Sylvia’s glasses!

Below are a few pictures of Sylvia and I, her signing my book and some of the goodies I got to take home with me. All in all, a fabulous day!
