2010 Philadelphia Food & Wine Festival

Yesterday Fiancé and I had the honor of attending the 2010 Philadelphia Food & Wine Festival. My friend Lys, who I met for the first time at the Bourbon Blue Deck Party earlier this Fall, hooked us up with amazing VIP tickets to the festival.


A food and wine festival? Well, that is just right up my alley! I was so excited to go and get my taste on!


The event opened on Sunday morning at 11 am and you can bet that we were there at 11:00 on the dot. When we walked in I was a bit overwhelmed by all the sights and smells and sounds.

It was pretty much an Expo for food and wine. And let me just say that I LOVE a good expo!


We decided to make out a plan of attack. We would go down each row of vendors and circle back to make sure we got to see and taste everything that we wanted to.

That meant we started the morning off with some trout. I have never had trout before but I decided to just go for it. It was pretty good, not fishy at all!


I pretty much only tried it because I thought this sticker was cool, such is the power of some good marketing, right?


Is it normal to wash your trout down with a cupcake? Because that’s what happened next! 


Cupcake Gourmet rocks my world.


One thing that was plentiful at the expo was sauces!


Hot sauces, BBQ sauces, every type of sauce and seasoning you could think of, it was there!



One thing that I was pleased about was that the majority of the foods to sample there were made from natural and even lots of organic ingredients. The sauce pictured above is only made from the ingredients below, which I thought was cool to feature.


I was also pleased to find out that there were soups to taste test.


I really enjoyed this sweet corn chowder. Delish! 


Another thing I enjoyed was that lots of the vendors out there were local to Philly, which was awesome to be able to test out some local eats and drinks that I wouldn’t have known about otherwise.

What’s a food and wine festival without some wine? I started off my day with a tasty wine slushy!

It was very tasty. Would be awesome in the spring/summer months!


And then I had some beer. Why not, right?

One of our favorite vendors was Two Guys pasta sauce, which is made in New Jersey and you know I love my Jersey Boys.


We bought 3 cans of this stuff. It was awesome!

This beer was made in Intercourse, PA – which we visited earlier this summer! Ha!

I sort of wanted to stay camped out in front of the Cabot booth all day and much on their cheese


This jalapeño sauce burned my face off, but it was very yummy!

Must visit Palate in Newtown, this Farotto was amazing.

Fiancé and I walked around all afternoon tasting and sipping and chatting it up with people.


One of my favorite booths was the Former White House Chef Tour one, where I got to meet some of the chefs who have cooked for past presidents. They talked about the securities that went into cooking for the First Family, it was so interesting.


Also met Rocky Fino who just came out with a new book  – “Will Cook for Sex”- A Guy’s Guide to Cooking.


I also have talked before about my love for Black Blox Wine, well they were at the festival this weekend and we got to taste some new flavors. Fiancé and I also got a photo taken there, I just wish his head wasn’t chopped off! 

Then we made our way to the ‘Alcoholic section’ of the festival which is where all the hard liquor tasting was going on.

Next to the booze section they had set up an entire PA Wine & Spirits store! I thought that was pretty cool.


Then we made our way to the WaterWorks booth, I was excited to see what they had for us here! This place is special to us because it is where we got engaged!


Pumpkin risotto with crab and cranberry. It was awesome!

There was so much stuff going on at the festival we barely got to see everything we wanted to. We watched a cooking demonstration and also got to see Russ Newberry from Deadliest Catch.  


It was an amazing fun-filled day spent at the 2010 Philadelphia Food & Wine Festival. Thank you so much to Lys for the tickets!


We came home with lots of loot! So many coupons, recipes and information from all the vendors we enjoyed.


I also am excited about a new purchase – I got the Pioneer Woman Cookbook at the festival! It was half off! Win! I can’t wait to cook up some Pioneer Woman awesomeness!

    Are you still exhausted? This would have worn me out. Anything with "wine festival" in the title has my vote.

    A fun day! I love the food/wine/walking tours! The booths that I would have liked to visit are Ed Hardy, crab cakes and of course the sweets.

    I am so glad you had a blast! Fab recipe from PW's cookbook – her Jalepeno Poppers – bacon, cheese and spicy goodness. That is the first to go at soirees.

    Pioneer Woman can cook up some heaven… just watch your portions… Yikes!

    That looks like fun! I have the Pioneer Woman Cookbook and I especially love her homemade pizza recipe. yum!

    What a wonderful post! I loved that Farroto as well and the tomato sauce. The carrot cake cupcake was my favorite. I also want to point out that it's Cupcakes Gourmet…i think the one you have posted is from New York.
