A Week In Naples, Florida

Last week I spent a lovely 7 days in Naples, Florida with both my family & my in-laws. It was a trip filled with sunshine, lots of laughs, warm weather and – don’t hate me -> but it was the perfect time to get away from some of this freezing cold winter weather we have been having in Philly!snow

Since being home & back in the cold for a few days, I wanted to relive the memories and potential channel some of that warm Florida sunshine back my way – and I also wanted to share with you the fun time we had & what we did with a week in Naples! second flight

The day before our flight, Brooks & I headed down to Virginia to meet up with my parents – we were going to catch a flight from Dulles with them because Charles was going to come down a few days later, it was cheaper to fly from there & duh, I appreciated {and needed!} my parents help! This was Brooks’ second flight and he was a champ  > check out some of my tips for Traveling with an Infant & Traveling with a Baby < luckily for us, it was a quick & easy  flight and it was timed sort of right that Brooks slept for half of it.

Before we knew it we were greeted to blue skies, sunshine & 80 degrees!

My in-laws rented a house in Naples for 3 months – January, February & March – to escape the winter in Philadelphia. So after settling in, we headed out to soak up some sunshine & check out the beach.

Brooks passed out immediately on our walk – I think he loved the warm weather & sunshine more than any of us! It pretty much knocked him right out!

Side Note: For this trip we brought our umbrella stroller & it was the perfect size & weight! And another tip -> This Gate Check Bag saved me!

After a short walk, my toes were in the water!

Check out our gorgeous beach! If you are in the area or looking to vacation here it’s called Vanderbilt Beach and it’s absolutely gorgeous!

We weren’t dressed to hit up the beach & it was later in the afternoon so we decided to walk back home & hit up the pool! I love all the covered pools in the area & how the palm trees provided lots of privacy & shade!

Brooks hadn’t been in a pool since the summer – and so much has changed since then! A few months ago he could barely sit up on his own & couldn’t crawl! Now he’s going to be walking any day now! Crazy how much changes in a few months with a baby!

Since it was our first night we decided to head into Old Naples for dinner al fresco. Since we have little man with us, all our dinners out were at 5pm – since he goes to bed at 7pm – but we were able to enjoy some nice specials and didn’t have to deal with many crowds!dinner

On Thursday we woke up and it was a little chilly for laying out at the beach, but we decided to take another walk down that way anyway to check out the scene.

We took some pictures down by the water & Brooks put his toes in the Gulf of Mexico – he LOVED walking on the sand! It was so fun to watch him experience the sand between his toes!

After checking out the scene at the beach we headed down to a park so Brooks could enjoy the swing! Not really swing weather in Philly, so we had to take advantage while we could, since he loves it so much!

Friday was the first beach day of the trip – and also the day Charles arrived! He got in later in the afternoon so after Brooks woke up from his morning nap, we headed to the beach! Brooks got to put his toes in the sand and really crawl around for the first time.

Whenever we went to the beach this past summer, Brooks was too small to sit on his own, and for the most part, wasn’t crawling yet – so we never really put him in the sand. This was a whole different story! I wasn’t sure how he was going to feel about it – but he seriously loved it! I put him down and he took off crawling, straight towards the ocean! to the beachloves it

After little man proved that he wanted to hang around the beach, we rented a cabana & set up shop for the day. I changed little man into his swimsuit and we had a blast playing in the sun, the sand & in the water.

On Saturday we woke up & my sister-in-law Kate & her fiancé, Alex had arrived so the two of us decided to go for a run on the beach.

I swear, I would work out SO MUCH if I was able to skip winter & the cold completely! It was so nice to be able to run outside, on the beach, in January. beach run

After our little workout it was time to head back to the beach because it.was.gorgeous out! Since we had extra hands – all the grandparents! – there, I was able to bike to the beach while little man cruised in his stroller.

Little man LOVED the beach.

But then again, what’s not to love – especially when you are there in January.

Saturday night Charles & I went out with Kate & Alex in Old Naples. We left little man at home with the grandparents and opted for drinks and dinner out on the town. It was nice to have a night out with-out the little guy -> as much as I love him, sometimes it’s nice to eat dinner out around 7:30pm!

date night

We ate at HobNob Kitchen & Bar and if you are in the area or planning to visit Naples, I would totally recommend this restaurant! It was so yummy with a great scene! I enjoyed the short rib -> So good!

night out

Woke up on Sunday morning and wouldn’t ya know it, it was another beautiful beach day! The boys went golfing – minus Brooks – so the ladies headed out to soak up some sun!

Sunday night we had something special planned -> sundowners at the Ritz. My in-laws had checked out the scene ahead of time & said there was a great view, so we were obviously all in.

Luckily the sun sets before little man goes to bed this time of year, so everyone could join in on the fun.

As you can see, it was a pretty good view!

In other news, Flash Tattoos are all sorts of fun for vacations!

Instead of boring you completely – if I haven’t already, with all the warm & beachy memories from our Naples trip – I think you get the idea that we pretty much shuffled back between the beach and the pool all week.

It was a pretty fabulous way to spend a week in January.

Needless to say, I was not excited to go back to winter last week.

But I do have these pictures with all the warm sunshine that we enjoyed a few days ago. I’m crossing my fingers we make it back down there again soon! Naples was a beautiful place with great beaches and it seemed like a great place to relax and get away for a while! A perfect winter getaway spot if you ask me!
oh hey

Now it’s your turn to share ->

What’s the best winter vacation you’ve ever enjoyed?

Thanks for all the sunshine memories of that week! I certainly wish I was still there! I have been blessed with heading to the Carribbean in January for many years for a winter get-a-way and that’s pretty awesome too!

Love your Blog! Question though – Where did you get your boots from the first picture? The picture with your boots in the snow? I’ve been looking for boots like that everywhere and can’t find them!

Will be heading to FL this summer and need some good swim suits! Where did you get the black on with the cutouts?! Actually where did you get all of them. They’re so cute!
