Run, Juice, Eat – Staying Healthy in the New Year

It’s no secret that with two boys, my life is a little crazy. We are also usually crazy busy. I’m not one to sit at home all day – we like to be out and about – soaking up this gorgeous sunshine now that it’s starting to get nice out, exploring the city. That’s why we live here – I love being able to walk everywhere, throw the boys in the stroller and go. We have memberships pretty much everywhere – and we use them all constantly.

You’d think that with all the walking around and running after the littles, it would keep me in pretty good shape – and to an extent, it does – but in order for me to feel my best I always have to do a few things each day for me to keep my healthy lifestyle a main focus. Here’s how I make sure to Run, Juice + Eat to stay Healthy!

You know I shared my 2016 Racing Calendar on the blog and I have goals to do a different race each month. Making sure I create the time and the space to run a few times a week has been a game changer for me. It’s not always the easiest thing to squeeze in – I usually have the best luck the earlier I go in the day – but I always feel amazing after I have a few miles under my belt.

I try to get a run in every other day or so – along with at least 3-4 miles just walking around with the kids each day. I like to keep my legs moving and making sure I get out there to run makes me feel great. I love having a little time to myself – when my mom, my mother-in-law or the Hubs is home watching the kids.

Starting my day with a green juice every morning has been another game changer for me. With the weather warming up, its been nicer to enjoy my juices too! I love to share some of my favorite juice + smoothie recipes {perfect for the spring + summer months!} I’m also thinking about doing a modified 3- Day Juice Cleanse {modified for nursing} before our upcoming trip to Mexico in April – because, hello swimsuits!

Another way I keep myself in check is at lunchtime. Usually, if the stars align, I’ll get a short window in the afternoon of both the boys napping together. This is when I take a few minutes to eat! Ha! I’m a big fan of Trader Joe’s frozen meal options {what city lover doesn’t?!}, but my new obsession, go-to option for a delicious, fresh and filling meal is a Healthy Choice meal.

It’s nice to be able to grab a Healthy Choice for a quick and healthy meal option – to keep me in check! The Healthy Choice Café Steamers are made with real ingredients and no preservatives so you don’t have to worry about sacrificing taste or freshness.

Since the ingredients aren’t frozen in the sauce they have a fresh, more vibrant taste –  – my favorite is the General Tso’s Spicy Chicken! Yum! Unlike other frozen meals, Healthy Choice Café Steamers’ feature a unique tray-in-tray steam cooking method that delivers fresh-tasting meals with crisp vegetables and juicy proteins. It also gives you the chance to be a part of the culinary experience as you pour your own sauce, determining how much or how little flavor you want with your meal.
