On Leaving the Littles

Tomorrow is the big day!

Charles and I are heading out for a week in Mexico! I couldn’t be more excited but I’m also a little anxious – this is my first time leaving Graham! But did I mention we are going to an adults-only, all-inclusive, little slice of heaven in Playa Mujeres?!

I’m trying to focus on that because the hubs and I haven’t been on a vacation, just the two of us, in way too long. And as a SAHM for the past 2+ years, I’m excited to have a little break and a little time to myself – I may even read a book {or three!} Don’t even know what I’m going to do with all that free time and having to only worry about myself!

It’s going to be AHHHHH-mazing!

But I am a little anxious about leaving the boys. My parents and my in-laws are going to be sharing the week taking care of the boys in our house. Brooks has been having a little ‘terrible two’ attitude + drama the past week and a half – so I’m hoping he doesn’t give the grandparents too much trouble! And Graham is just at the sweetest, cuddliest age – I’m going to miss my little cuddle-bug ! I’m hoping my two babes don’t grow up on me too much in the next week when I’m not there!

And since we are still nursing {and going strong} I’m hoping that my continuation of pumping goes well during my week away. I have to say that I’m not too excited to pump on vacation – my plan is to pump 4 times a day. I just picked up a hand pump that I will have with me when we are out and about – we have a day trip or two planned – and possibly when I’m on the plane. And then I’m bringing my electric pomp as well – hopefully exclusive pumping for a week goes and isn’t too annoying! Graham has been given a bottle a few times over the past week and he’s been fine, so I’m not worried about that at all!

Aside from that, I’ve been stockpiling breastmilk in the freezer for the past few months, saving up for this trip. I have about 5 shoeboxes full from pumping every morning. Since Graham has been sleeping through the night for a few months now when I wake up, I feed from one side and pump from the other – getting anywhere from 5-10 oz! He’s also been nursing about 4-5 times a day, since he eats 3 meals a day. Fingers crossed it all goes well!

I’m sad to leave these two little ones but I’m excited for a little break and some time away. I’m thankful for family close-by who are willing and able to help out! Can’t wait to go on our trip and have some fun! I’ll be Instagramming when I can and will be popping in next weekend to share our trip so stay tuned for that!

When’s the last time you went on a kid-free vacation?

Any tips to share?!

Don’t worry. Everything will be fine, if not, we’ll figure it out!
