Think About Your Eyes

little love

As a kid, my parents were always pretty strict about making sure I went to all my appointments – my regular doctor, dentist, ophthalmologist, orthodontist, you name it! – every six months, year, whatever was the proper time with insurance – if there was an appointment to be had, I was taking it!

I feel like in this day in age with insurance being as crazy as it is, you need to take advantage of every opportunity to take care of yourself. If you don’t do it, no one else will – and now having kids of my own, I love to show them the importance of routine doctor, dental + eye care! And make sure they know that they need to put their own health first.

We don’t have the best eye sight history in my family – so making sure I go to my routine appointments to make sure everything is in tip top shape is even more important to me. I will make sure it’s just as important to my sons as well! It’s crazy to think about, but just as eating fresh, balanced meals nourishes our body, and exercising helps keep our physique healthy and strong, we should not take for granted the one part, which we take in the world – our eyes.

Think About Your Eyes is a national public awareness campaign that promotes the benefits of eye health, urging people to get annual comprehensive eye exams – which are so important! I’m not always the biggest fan of the actual eye doctor exam {I’m a wimp} but I always feel so good after knowing that my vision is good to go for another two years! Just like all our other muscles, eyes need regular care to maintain maximum performance – I feel like its hard not to take your sight for granted, but just thinking about not having proper eye sight, makes me want to take preventative measures as much as I can!

By getting an annual comprehensive eye exam, eye problems can be detected at their early stages when they’re most treatable – which always sounds way better than something going to far! I’m so happy that you realize the importance of taking care of your body for yourself and your family. If you are not proactive, unfortunately bad things can happen. My motto is: Take care of yourself, cause no one else will!
