A Day In the #MomLife + All The Cleaning

It’s been a while since I’ve done a Day in the Life post, so I thought it would be fun to show you what our days are looking like recently. Including all the crazy cleaning I do day in and day out – I feel like I just follow the boys around all day, cleaning! Here’s a look at a day in our life these days

7:00am – Boys start to stir in their cribs – allegedly! I’ve been sleeping in until 7:15am or so recently, which has been amazing but everyone is happy waking up slow so I’m going with that. Once I check my phone and the weather for the day I get myself dressed before getting the boys. If I don’t get myself ready for the day now, it usually doesn’t happen.

7:30am – Go downstairs and go into Brooks’ room first. He loves to turn on all his crib toys and then stand in the corner of his crib, singing a song or chatting away to himself – it’s so sweet. When I come in the room I’m greeted with a “Hi Mommy!” and then I always ask him what he dreamt about and the answer is always “Stars.” Always. I open his blinds, let the sun in and ask him what he wants to do today or tell him what we have planned. Always fun with our morning chats because you never know what he’s going to say, but it’s always something amazing!

7:45am – Bring Brooks into Graham’s room to say good morning to G and change B. Graham loves hanging in his crib. Brooks always runs into Graham’s room with a “Hi baby Gam – whatcha doing?” to which Graham giggles – he finds his older bro hilarious. After changing them both we head downstairs.

8:00am – I nurse Graham while Brooks watches a show – or if I want to watch TV, I give Brooks his tablet to play around with for a few minutes.

8:15am – Grab Brooks some milk and let Graham play around on the floor with some toys for a bit – then if it’s a cleaning day, like it is today, it’s time to throw in one of my first of many {usually 4} loads of laundry. I’ve been obsessed with Tide Pods recently – when I only have a minute to run downstairs and get a load going, this is so easy to just toss in and go.

The 3 in 1 is amazing because it cleans, protects and whitens the clothes – win, win, win! I also love throwing in the Downy Unstopables – because they make everything smell so amazing !

8:30am – Breakfast time for B + G. Depending on what we are doing that day and if everyone is dressed or not depends on the mess I will allow at breakfast. If we are heading out soon + everyone is dressed, I keep it more of a clean meal option – like waffles. If we are staying home with chores to do, like today – mess it up! Yogurt + cereal + oatmeal for all! Coffee for mama.

8:45am – Breakfast is done and the kitchen is a mess but everyone is full – except for me, when do I get to eat? Not yet – time to clean up B + G and get Graham down for a nap. I put a show on TV – usually Daniel Tiger at this time – and he gets 15 minutes to watch part of an episode while I take Graham upstairs to change him and get him down for a nap. Sometimes he nurses a little more, sometimes he just wiggles around in my arms until I just put him down in the crib so he can get himself comfortable + asleep on his own. Love that, but I also love when he needs me to cuddle!

9:00am – Time to clean up from breakfast.Swiffer Dry Refills are my life. They are great to clean up after mealtimes and pretty much at any moment in our house – they pick up dust, dirt and hair. I am constantly swiffering, especially after mealtime!

9:15am – Laundry load #1 is clean, time to throw in another load + add to dryer. Brooks has some quiet play time while Graham is sleeping. He LOVES to draw – so I usually set him up in his floating high chair and he draws while listening to music for a long time. Love this because he keeps him busy while I get the house in order and Graham gets to sleep uninterrupted.

9:30am – Brooks is still happily coloring + painting, so I sit beside him with my computer and work on today’s post while enjoying my morning shake.

9:45am – Check on Graham’s monitor + he’s still happily snoozing so I decide to start packing up some snacks because as soon as he wakes up, we are heading out for this beautiful day! Graham’s morning nap is his most consistent – he’s still on 2 naps a day but the am is his favorite – he naps anywhere from 1-2.5 hours, depending on the day. But that long nap can cut into doing things with Brooks before his nap – which I am pretty protective of, since the world is a better place when he gets a good sleep – and he naps around 1:00pm. So I usually let Graham sleep in his crib for his am nap 4+ times a week and make him nap on the go for a extra fun morning for B. Today, we are letting him nap!

10:00am – We ran the dishwasher last night, like we do most nights – seriously, how do two adults and 2 littles dirty so many dishes?! But alas, time to empty the dishwasher again – and my new favorite detergent is the Cascade Action Pacs – so easy to toss in the dishwasher and not think about it, but know your dishes are going to get seriously clean!

Unloading the dishwasher is not a quiet activity, but I think Graham will be getting up from his nap soon so Brooks helps me with the dishes – it’s one of his favorite things to do and I enjoy not having to bend over! Ha!

10:30am – Graham is up! I change him, get the stroller set up outside, along with all the things and we head out for the morning! {Switch out the laundry before I leave}

First stop is meeting a neighbor at a local coffee shop! Give me COFFEE!

11:00am – Next up we enjoy the fresh air and head out for a nice long walk. Brooks and Graham both love taking in the sights, the fresh air and the snacks! Ha !

11:30am – We stop at a park because all Brooks ever wants to do is play ball – He loves to kick, throw, roll, toss – anything with a ball. I love being outside with him and letting him get the crazies out! He could play ball outside all day long and it’s a beautiful day for it, so I let him.

12:00pm – Graham surprised me by doing something he never does + takes a little afternoon snooze in the stroller. Watching big bro play is exhausting!

12:30pm- We head home now because I want to get back in time for Brooks’ nap – he’s good if you put him down early, but later is a different story. When we spend the morning out I usually do a light lunch of snacks in the stroller. Less mess for me to worry about at home and the boys enjoy the extra snacks.

1:00pm – Change B, put him in comfy pants, read him a story with Graham and then it’s light out for {fingers crossed} a nice long nap. Time for Graham and I to party – with more laundry!

1:30pm – Graham and I play, roll around, giggle and have a snack. I love this time the two of us have solo together. He is getting so big so quick so I try to get everything out of my mind and focus on just him while big Bro is sleeping and the two of us get some special time.

2:00pm – Graham has had enough play and is ready for a nap. I love when the two naps overlap and I get a few minutes to myself to breathe or eat lunch – even if it’s at 2pm. I nurse G and he goes down without a fight.

2:30pm – FREEEEEEDOM! Well, at least for a few minutes. I have a little snack and sit down for a minute. I’m sure someone will be up soon. Change another load of laundry and put some of the previous loads away while I have a few minutes to myself.

3:00pm – And I was right! Brooks is ready to get up and get moving. I get him out of his crib. We play in his room for a little bit until baby bro wakes up.

3:30pm – Graham is up – time to change everyone and head outside to take Jackson for a walk!

4:00pm – Back from the walk. Time to play inside for a bit and chill out while mom makes dinner.

Screen Shot 2016-06-23 at 5.29.42 PM

4:30pm – If the boys don’t have a true lunch they are ready for dinner early – especially Graham. If Brooks is entertaining himself sometimes I feed Graham solo because it’s easier to worry about one at a time. And when Graham is full and happy he will just hang out while Brooks eats.

5:00pm – Dinner for Brooks! We are having pasta tonight so everyone is pretty happy and easily able to feed themselves. Baby led weaning win!

5:30pm – Time to clean everything up – Charles and I will eat after the boys go to bed. So I have our plates ready to go and I get the boys washed up and ready to head upstairs for the evening.

6:00pm – Charles gets home around 6:15pm so I usually try to have the boys all dressed and ready for bed before he gets home so they can all play – unless its a bath night, then I prefer backup! Tonight isn’t so we wash our faces, brush our teeth, put on our jammies and wait for dad.

The boys LOVE to play in Brooks room before bed. Brooks plays basketball and Graham enjoys anything put in front of him!

6:30pm  – Charles is home and in charge! I sneak upstairs for a quick shower while the boys play. I change and get myself ready for bed. I come down about 6:50 – the boys all read a story together and then I take Graham into his room to get him to sleep and Charles reads Brooks another story.

7:00pm – Lights out for the babes. Time to pour a glass of wine for mama – we all survived another one! Cheers!

It’s fun to share my day in the life posts but it’s also crazy to really take a look into it to see how much time I’m spent just CLEANING! Cleaning up messes, cleaning laundry, dishes more messes. I’m pretty much constantly following my little ones around cleaning up after them!

This post was fun because I got to partner with P&G and stock up on all my favorite household items at Costco.

Here’s a little video on what I scooped up on my latest Costco run and some of our favorite household staples – that I buy on repeat.

All of my favorites are here at Costco – I love it!

Good morning! Fellow toddler mom and public health professional here. I know these companies give you products to review, but I wanted to caution you (and other readers who have young children) about using those laundry pods. They send many children to the hospital each year for poisoning. Most reports I’ve seen encourage parents to use a different type of detergent if they’ve got young children in the home. Be safe with those sweet kiddos! http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/2015/07/16/consumer-reports-laundry-pods/30210873/

Loved your day in the life and I pretty much use the same products in my home daily/weekly!
