So last week I had the seriously hard job of trying out some new cocktails for this blog post.
I was contacted by the lovely folks at Stolen Fruit, which is a Sonoma county company/product. Stolen Fruit is a non-alcoholic wine grape mixer – they focus on using a time-honored trade secret of great chefs called verjus, which brings the nuance of wine to cocktails.
A blend of verjus – the fresh pressed juice from green grapes, varietal grape juice, and grape skins creates the backbone of Stolen Fruit mixers. These distinct and delectable drink bases make food-friendly cocktails and mocktails with as few as two ingredients – I love that it’s that simple! Any of these would be fabulous just with sparkling water and some fun ice, a little PSA for all my pregger readers out there! But, I’m going to have mine with booze, obviously.
First I decided to try out the Lemongrass Ginger Sauvignon Blanc – I followed the suggesting to mix one part mixer with beer and sparkling water to make a shandy of sorts. It was fresh, light and delicious – such amazing flavor and a fabulous drink after a day out in the hot sun chasing around the littles!
This should be mandatory for every summer day.
The Blood Orange and Muscat is suggested to be mixed with either run, tequila, gin or bourbon. So I made a few different ones in small batches and had some neighbors over to try them out! They were all very tasty – I think it was really good with gin! Yum – the blood orange is amazing!
The Hibiscus Grenache was a real favorite of mine – suggested to mix with rum, tequila or mezcal – I went with rum and it was YUM-O! Loved the hibiscus in this one – seriously delicious!
There are some other flavor options too that Stolen Fruit is coming out with, but regardless, with each sip you get a balanced, flavorful cocktail – or simply mix with sparkling water for a refreshing and complex non-alcoholic option. Everyone wins for sure!
