Our First Visit to LEGOLAND® Discovery Center in Plymouth Meeting, PA + a Family 4-Pack Ticket Giveaway

If you are in the Philadelphia area and have a small child, I’m sure you are aware that LEGOLAND® Discovery Center opened in Plymouth Meeting last week!

My boys and I got some special VIP treatment and we were able to attend a Media-Only early access day! {read: less people, no lines, all sorts of awesome}

Needless to say, when Brooks found out we were going to LEGOLAND®, he was pretty pumped!

LEGOLAND® features Include an interactive LEGO® themed ride, LEGO® 4D Cinema, and 10 LEGO® themed play areas!

I was so excited when I found out this was coming to the Plymouth Meeting area – which is about 20 minute drive outside of Philadelphia. And I was even more anxious to see how they turned what I thought to be a small piece of the mall area, in to a LEGOLAND® Discovery Center!

When we first arrived, the first thing we had to do was check out the ride – yes, RIDE! My mom and I were just as excited to go on the Imagination Express as the boys were! To parents of small littles – the kids have to sit on their own seat during the ride! You can’t hold them in your lap or wear them – just a heads up!

So the ride is sort of like the Toy Story ride at Disney, which is also a game! You are given a wand, go into various rooms and have tasks with your wand to get points! Most points at the end wins for your car.

I dominated, obviously 🙂

But the ride was a lot of fun, the boys were mesmerized – and at the end, you get dropped off in LEGOLAND®!

There are 10 different themed areas inside LEGOLAND® but I think the coolest {to me} was MINILAND ® , which is built from over 1.5 MILLION LEGO® Bricks – and is a full model of the city of Philadelphia. How cool is that?!

A full replica of the city of Philadelphia made entirely of LEGOs® – it was really the coolest part {to me} of the entire place. And in each different part of the city, there were buttons to hit and the LEGOs® would move, make noise, the city would come to life. It was impressive.

Even the Subway and buses would go by!

My favorite part was the Art Museum and little mini Rocky going up and down the steps.

Can’t forget about Pat’s & Geno’s! #cheesesteak

And they had all the stadiums too.

Like I said, really impressive.

After checking out the cityscape, it was time for Brooks and I to do a little LEGO® Ninja Training Camp in the Laser Maze – that was a lot of fun.

Then we made our way over to the LEGO® 4-D Cinema.

We got to see LEGO® NEXO KNIGHTS™: The Book of Creativity – and got to be a part of the show as special water, wind and fog effects burst off the big screen.

It was really fun.

Everyone sat and really enjoyed the 25 minute show – it was cute and I hear they will be bringing some other show options in the coming months!

I think Brooks’ favorite part of the whole day was Pirate Island Adventure – a soft play area aboard a LEGO-themed pirate ship. He stayed in there FOREVER running around like a mad man.

I really liked this area because it was a one way in and one way out scenario, where they had someone working letting kids in and out. So I knew he couldn’t go out the wrong way by accident. It’s the little things people – I only had one door to watch!

Check out Brooks in the crows nest:

A few more things about this area –

  • Suitable for children between 36″ and 60″ of height
  • All children must wear socks – don’t forget to bring yours with you

I always pack extra socks, because you never know! And the height reqiurement was interesting because I wasn’t able to go in with Brooks, he had to go it alone, which was cool with me!

Again, he LOVED it!

Since Graham was too small to go into the play area, he enjoyed some of the fun pirate themed LEGO® spots just outside, which was awesome for both of them to be entertained separately and I was able to keep an eye on both of them having a blast at the same time.

Some other fun areas include the workshop, which is hosted by a Master Model builder throughout the day and offers special tips and tricks for LEGO® lovers.

Another favorite spot for Brooks was the LEGO® Racers: Build + Test area. It had a really cute car theme throughout and the kids are encouraged to build their own LEGO® race cars and then put them down the track, which they can slide down alongside their car – pretty cool, right?

This life-size {for the littles} race car, built entirely out of – you guessed it – LEGO®s! got a lot of action too! Pretty cool if you ask me!

Another little awesome part of the whole LEGOLAND® experience – check out the bathrooms! Why can’t ALL restrooms have little sinks for kids?! Would make my life so much easier and I thought it was a nice little touch! Brooks was so happy he could do it himself too!

Phew – that was a long post, but there was so much to see, do and the boys had an absolute blast! I think they would have stayed all day if I would have let them!

Thanks so much to the LEGOLAND® Discovery Center team for inviting us and including us in the grand opening of the new facitily – it’s gorgeous and SO.MUCH.FUN!

We can’t wait to come back!

And fun fact: when we came home, the boys both did a double dual nap {something that NEVER happens anymore these days} so I pretty much might have to come back weekly for this to happen again!

Good times were sure had by all! These two played their little hearts out!

Now is the fun part! Want to win a 4-PACK of tickets to the brand spankin’ new LEGOLAND® Discovery Center?!
