Happy Hauntings at Dutch Wonderland – Trick or Treat Fun in Lancaster, PA

Last weekend we had some super fun Halloween activities planned for the kids. On Saturday we took the boys to Brick or Treat at LEGOLAND  and on Sunday we made our way over to Dutch Wonderland for our first Happy Hauntings!

We LOVE Dutch Wonderland! We’ve been there a few times over the past few years:

A Day at Dutch Wonderland / Dutch Winter Wonderland  / Our Favorite Rides + Shows at DW

This was our first experience at the Happy Hauntings event – and we had an absolute blast! The boys loved every minute of their visit and I can’t wait to share it with you!

Happy Hauntings at Dutch Wonderland is a fun, fall family event featuring themed rides, special entertainment, tasty treats, and the Trick-or-Treat Trail: a safe, interactive trick-or-treating experience included in your admission – Saturdays + Sundays through October 28th.

As you can see, the castle was decked out for the occasion.

I love coming back here each season and seeing how much the boys have grown – Brooks is now a Amber and Graham is an Emerald. This shows which rides they are able to go on with the color codes.

This was such a fun visit because EVERYTHING at DW was changed for the season – the names of the rides were different, halloween/fall decor was everywhere and even Duke the Dragon had on his Halloween finest.

The boys did a quick change into their favorite PJ Masks costumes and we were ready to go on some rides and do some trick or treating! During Happy Hauntings the times for Dutch Wonderland is a little different – on Sunday they are open 2-8, which is perfect for the kiddos to do lots of Halloween fun activities before it gets too late, while being able to stay out when it starts to get dark to see all the lights!

The boys did ride a few rides first, but lets chat about the Trick or Treat trail first, because it was AWESOME!

The Trick-or-Treat Trail on Exploration Island is included with your ticket and you get to  Trick-or-treat with over 20 lifelike dinosaurs! And the dinosaurs are all dressed up!

Check it out: The Incredibles!

A T-Rex Archaeologist

Marshmallow Man {from Ghostbusters!}

Where’s Waldo?

The Very Hungary Caterpillar {I found this one hilarious}

Winnie the Pooh, Piglet and Eeyore

The kids got candy along the way at each Dino and they even gave the adults tickets to get a free treat. I picked the best Trick or Treat candy of all time, ever.

Take 5.

The boys and their loot.

There were also lots of cute photo spots along the way throughout all of Dutch Wonderland, which I obviously loved. Just another example of the great job they do putting it all together!

Here are some snaps of a few of the 30+ rides open for the kiddos at Dutch Wonderland during this event. It’s a great excuse to get outside and have some fun with the kids during this time of year – and while there were lots of people there, we didn’t wait for any rides, which was awesome!

When your brother is tall enough to ride the Flying Trapeze and you aren’t.

This was also Brooks’ second visit where he rode Merlin’s Mayhem – a suspended coaster – this time he got to ride it with his dad, I think they went 3 or 4 times on it! He LOVED it!

Check out my video of the ride + Brooks on it here.

I’m still surprised 1) Graham was tall enough for this and 2) He wanted to go on it!

G never ceases to surprise me.

As you can see, we had an absolute blast. It was the perfect way to spend a afternoon together as a family, the boys loved every minute! For a look at all the fun Dutch Wonderland has to offer, be sure to check out my video of our fun there, or check back the posts I linked at the beginning of this blog to see our visits over the years!

We love Dutch Wonderland so much and love each and every time we get to visit! Thanks so much to our friends at DW for having us, we hope to be back again soon – hopefully for Winter Wonderland!
